Zalmarath is the Act 2 boss at the end of the Titan Grotto. To reach the fight, find and activate three Ancient Seals in the Valley of the Titans. In the arena, keep moving around the boss’s wide melee attacks and use the dagger planted in the ground as cover when the arena-wide beam fires. After the fight, take the Flame Ruby back to Zarka at the Ardura Caravan to continue the Act 2 quest route.
How to reach Zalmarath in Act 2

Travel through the Valley of the Titans and interact with its three Ancient Seals. The third seal opens the entrance to the Titan Grotto, according to the PoE2DB Act 2 walkthrough.

Continue through the Titan Grotto to the Dais of Reckoning, where Zalmarath waits. The grotto’s layout is randomly generated, so area maps are guides to the route rather than fixed room-by-room directions, as Game8’s Zalmarath guide notes.
The encounter is part of the Act 2 quest A Crown of Stone. Zalmarath is associated with the Flame Ruby, the quest item you need after the battle.

How to handle Zalmarath’s attacks
Secondary encounter guides describe a mix of broad melee attacks, beams, projectiles, falling debris, and changing arena hazards. Their detailed descriptions are guide-reported mechanics, not an official encounter specification, and combat behavior may change with patches.
Broad melee strikes and sweeps
Zalmarath’s size makes its arm and weapon attacks cover a wide area. PoE-Vault describes a stab followed by a drag, dagger slices, and arm sweeps. Watch the boss’s movement, leave the threatened area rather than trying to stand through the swing, and avoid circling so tightly that a sweep catches you as it passes.

Falling debris, fire trails, and projectiles
The fight can add hazards beyond the boss’s direct strikes. PoE-Vault’s guide describes falling debris, fire trails, and projectiles, while the broader encounter descriptions note that the battlefield changes as the fight continues. Keep looking beyond Zalmarath for danger zones and avoid lingering in a hazard while focusing on damage.
Use the planted dagger against the arena-wide beam
For the arena-wide disintegration beam, PoE-Vault advises getting behind the dagger planted in the arena. Treat the dagger as cover: move to its far side before the beam crosses your position, then resume attacking when the danger has passed. Do not rely on dodging through the beam when the described response is to break line of sight behind the dagger.

React to the late-fight adds
PoE-Vault reports that Vril Apparitions appear at 40% boss health and that a spiral laser begins at 20%. Those exact thresholds are guide-reported and have not been established here as current-patch behavior. The guide says the Apparitions explode after a short delay when near the player, so deal with them promptly rather than letting them gather around you; keep watching the boss and arena while doing so.
What to do after the fight

Pick up the Flame Ruby associated with Zalmarath.

Return to the Ardura Caravan and give the Flame Ruby to Zarka. The PoE2DB Act 2 walkthrough lists an Uncut Support Gem Level 1 and the Horn of the Vastiri quest item among the turn-in rewards.

Build and gear expectations
The available encounter guides do not establish one required build, a dependable minimum character level, or exact gear and resistance thresholds for Zalmarath. Rather than rely on an unsupported level or equipment checklist, prepare to respond to the fight’s broad attacks, use the arena’s cover for the beam, and manage the hazards and adds as they appear.
