A current best-price comparison is not established here, so check live retailer listings before buying. If you already own the Switch game, Nintendo says you can purchase an upgrade pack; if you want the game and Mega Dimension DLC together physically, a bundle is announced for October 29, 2026.
Which Pokémon Legends: Z-A edition should you buy?
| Your situation | Option to look for | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| You have an original Nintendo Switch or Switch Lite | Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch | Make sure the listing says Nintendo Switch, not Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Current prices and stock have not been verified. |
| You have a Nintendo Switch 2 and want the upgraded presentation | Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition | Nintendo describes improved performance, enhanced resolution, and smoother frame rates. Check whether the listing is digital or physical. |
| You already own the Switch game | Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack | Nintendo says owners of the packaged or downloaded Switch game can purchase an upgrade pack. Check its current regional price and terms. |
| You want the base game and Mega Dimension together in a physical package | Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Mega Dimension bundle | The bundle is announced for October 29, 2026. Confirm local price, availability, and package contents when retailer listings appear. |
The Switch 2 Edition is a distinct edition, not an original Switch game listing with a performance claim added by a retailer. Nintendo lists its release date as October 16, 2025, and describes its performance and visual improvements on the official Nintendo Switch 2 Edition product page. Those are Nintendo’s product descriptions, not independent test results. The cited product page also says Mega Dimension DLC is sold separately.

Where to check for the game and current deals
Check the retailer’s live product page for the exact platform, format, seller, price, stock, and delivery terms before ordering. Amazon has carried both editions, but the prices captured in the cited coverage are historical, not current offers. The sources available for this guide do not establish live prices or stock for the original Switch game, Switch 2 Edition, or upgrade pack.
- For an original Switch or Switch Lite, choose a listing explicitly labeled for Nintendo Switch.
- For a Switch 2 purchase, confirm whether you want the Switch 2 Edition or the original Switch version.
- For a physical copy, check the seller and delivery details as well as the platform label.
- For the upgrade route, confirm the pack’s current regional price and eligibility terms before comparing it with buying the Switch 2 Edition outright.
What past prices can—and cannot—tell you
Past discounts can provide context for a sale, but they do not show today’s best price. TechRadar’s October 15, 2025 launch-week roundup listed Amazon at $69.99 for the Switch 2 Edition and $59.99 for the original Switch edition. Those are launch-week observations, not October 2026 quotes. Its June 25, 2026 Prime Day report recorded the physical Switch 2 Edition at $44.99 at Amazon for that limited event, described at the time as $25 below list. That promotion has passed.

- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
GamesRadar+ reported a $499 Walmart bundle of a Nintendo Switch 2 console and Pokémon Legends: Z-A on October 2, 2026. That is a console-and-game package, not a standalone game price, and the report noted that hardware prices and offer timing can change. Compare it only if you are shopping for a console too.
Should you wait for the physical Mega Dimension bundle?
The Pokémon Company announced a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Mega Dimension bundle for October 29, 2026. Nintendo’s US product listing describes it as physical and says it includes an insert with a code for 100 Ultra Balls. The captured Nintendo listing did not expose a bundle price, and an announced release date does not establish that retail stock is already available.

The Switch 2 Edition is specifically presented by Nintendo as the Switch 2 Edition. For an original Switch or Switch Lite, look for the Nintendo Switch version rather than assuming the Switch 2 listing is compatible. Nintendo’s launch schedule says owners of the packaged or downloaded Switch game can purchase an upgrade pack to reach the Switch 2 Edition; check Nintendo’s launch schedule and announcements for the relevant details.
