Gaming Copilot is an Xbox beta assistant available through the Windows PC Game Bar rollout announced on September 18, 2025. Xbox said players aged 18 and older could use it in supported regions, with access rolling out gradually. The feature is intended to answer game-related questions and offer recommendations using relevant Xbox account and play context; the announcement does not establish that every eligible Windows 11 player has access today.

What Gaming Copilot does

Xbox describes Gaming Copilot as an assistant for gaming help, recommendations and insights. Players can ask about the game they are playing, achievements and play history. In the rollout announcement, Xbox framed the goal as helping players get past obstacles and spend more time playing.

The beta preview also documented voice interaction, a pinned widget and the ability to use gameplay screenshots to give responses more context. Screenshot settings could be managed in Capture Settings within the widget. Xbox’s later beta update described deeper in-game assistance, push-to-talk and improved recognition of on-screen activity. These are capabilities described across beta updates, not a guarantee that every function is available to every account.

  1. Install the Xbox PC app on your Windows PC.
  2. Open a game, app or the desktop, then press the Windows logo key + G to open Game Bar.
  3. Look for Gaming Copilot in the Game Bar Home Bar and open its widget.
  4. Sign in with an Xbox account for the full experience.

Because Xbox announced a gradual rollout, following these steps does not guarantee the widget will appear for every eligible account. The announcement is a dated description of the rollout and setup route, not confirmation of present access for every Windows 11 installation.

Who can access it, and where?

The September 18, 2025 announcement specified players aged 18 and older and regional support everywhere except mainland China. It did not provide a full country-by-country list. The available announcement information does not establish current availability in each market or confirm that the beta rollout is complete for all eligible users.

Is an ROG Xbox Ally required?

No. Gaming Copilot’s PC access route is through the Xbox PC app and Windows Game Bar; an ROG handheld is not listed as a requirement. Microsoft later showcased the assistant on the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X as an optional handheld example. In that presentation, a player could long-press the library button to start a conversation for recommendations or help without leaving the game. Xbox had described handheld optimization as ongoing in September 2025.
