Four Mask Shards make one extra health pip. The fan-made Silksong.codes guide lists 20 shards—enough for five additional pips—and their routes span early areas, ability-gated challenges and Act 3 quests. You do not need to collect them in a fixed order: take accessible shards first, then revisit areas when you have the required movement abilities, keys or story progress.
How Mask Shards increase health
Collect four Mask Shards to gain one additional health pip. Silksong.codes lists 20 Mask Shards in total, which would add five pips beyond your starting health; that total comes from a fan-made guide, not a developer-published checklist. GameSpot also describes the four-shard upgrade. Silksong.codes’ Mask Shards guide says its guide was accurate as of September 2025, and GameSpot’s guide is dated September 8, 2025.
Early and mid-game Mask Shards
This route order is for planning, not a mandatory sequence. Some pickups need abilities or quest progress that you may not yet have.

Act 3 Mask Shards
The guide lists four more shards as Act 3 rewards. These depend on late-game access or completing specific quests and challenges, so they are not available as ordinary early pickups.

The two Bellhart quest rewards and the complete 20-shard count are listed by Silksong.codes. GameSpot’s guide also notes that some shards are Act 3-only, but does not independently detail every late-game reward.
