Probably—especially if you’re a Batman fan, enjoy LEGO adventures, or want a large Gotham game you can play solo or in local co-op. Switch 2 reviews are positive overall, but reports differ on how often performance problems show up. Buy more cautiously if smooth performance is your main priority or you dislike collectible-heavy open worlds.
What kind of game is it?
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a story-led, open-world action-adventure following Bruce Wayne’s journey from origin to Gotham hero. Warner Bros. Games describes its original story as drawing on Batman films, television, comics and games, with LEGO humor. DC’s description highlights combo-based combat, stealth, character abilities, gadgets and traversal by grappling, gliding and driving. (Warner Bros. Games; DC)
The publisher and Nintendo listing advertise 7 playable characters, 100 suits, more than 20 vehicles, and more than 250 Batcave props and trophies. These are publisher-provided feature counts. The Nintendo US listing gives a 23.7 GB file size and supports TV, tabletop and handheld play. (Nintendo)
That combination makes the game a better fit for players who want more than a linear campaign: there is an open Gotham to explore and a substantial set of suits, vehicles and Batcave collectibles. If you prefer a tightly directed story with little optional collecting, the open-world structure may be less appealing.

How does it perform on Switch 2?
Switch 2 reviews found the game enjoyable and generally playable, but their reports differ in emphasis. They are observations from individual review sessions, not a guarantee that every play session will be smooth.
- Nintendo Life: Its European-version review, captured docked, praised Gotham, humor, puzzle platforming and co-op, but reported occasional frame drops, frequent stutters in busy missions, pop-in, blurry background textures and one late-game crash while moving quickly between boroughs. It found texture issues less noticeable in handheld mode. (Nintendo Life)
- Nintendo Everything: After about 20 hours, mostly docked, the reviewer reported three brief slowdowns or frame drops—two around fire effects while docked and one during handheld Batmobile use—and no glitches or errors. The review also notes that load times may bother some players. (Nintendo Everything)
- Miketendo64: The review noted occasional stutter during high-speed Batmobile runs and heavy particle effects, but said it did not break immersion for that reviewer. (Miketendo64)
The practical takeaway is not that the game is unplayable, nor that performance is uniformly trouble-free: reviewers enjoyed it, while some encountered stutter or visual compromises and one reported a crash. These reviews do not establish a measured frame rate, resolution, battery life, crash rate, or how the Switch 2 version compares with other platforms.

No requirement to buy a physical set is established for playing or completing the base game. WB Games identifies four LEGO DC Batman sets with in-game unlocks. Its FAQ distinguishes standard vehicles that can be earned in the game from specific gold vehicle variants and a gold Batsuit exclusive to buying named sets. Treat those sets as optional collector purchases, and check set details and availability before buying. (Warner Bros. Games; WB Games FAQ)
Who should buy it on Switch 2?
- Good fit: Batman fans, LEGO adventure fans, players who want an explorable Gotham, and anyone who will use two-player local co-op.
