When a hero upgrade is blocked in Sea of Conquest, check the exact item named on the upgrade screen, then use the game’s own source prompt and verify the reward before spending stamina, attempts, or currency. Different upgrade items can have different acquisition routes, and current public sources do not confirm a reliable route for every material.
Start with the exact material you’re missing
- Open the hero’s upgrade panel. Note the precise item or currency the upgrade requires; “hero materials” is not one interchangeable resource.
- Tap the in-game source or “get more” prompt, if available. Check where it leads and review that destination’s reward preview and eligibility requirements.
- Confirm the reward before committing. Make sure the activity, shop, or event currently offers the exact item you need. A source suggestion alone is not a reason to spend limited attempts or currency.
The official Sea of Conquest website describes the game and its progression systems but does not provide a hero-material acquisition guide. A third-party guide published on 13 July 2026 proposes routes such as daily tasks, events, nodes, alliance activities, and shops, but those item-specific claims are not corroborated by the official site or authoritative documentation. Treat them as leads to verify in your current game client, not confirmed drop routes.

Compare routes shown in your game
If the same material appears in more than one place, compare the options on the screens available to you rather than assuming one route is always best. Check:
- How much of the exact item the reward preview shows.
- The stamina, currency, or attempts required.
- Any daily, weekly, or event limit.
- Whether you meet the activity’s progression or eligibility requirements.
- Whether the activity also advances another goal you have.
No current numeric source comparison, universal ranking, drop rate, or yield is established by the available sources. If the source prompt is missing or unclear, use the game’s current help or community channel, or a guide matched to your game version, and verify any suggested route in the client.

Choose upgrades that help your active formation
When resources are scarce, prioritize heroes who fill useful roles in the formation you actually use instead of spreading small amounts across the roster. Before spending, consider the hero’s role, the upgrade’s effect, and the remaining requirements for the next useful milestone.
The independent Sea of Conquest Handbook heroes guide, updated 28 September 2026 and checked against version 1.1.790 (September 2026), discusses hero choice in terms of role, damage type, star level, and availability. It is a version-dated fan reference, not official confirmation; the site says it is not affiliated with the game’s developers or publisher.
Check live event rewards before saving resources
Event availability and reward lists change. Check the live event page or in-game reward preview to see whether it actually awards the material you need before saving attempts or delaying an upgrade. The official event index lists dated event windows, including September and October 2026 listings, but those listings do not establish that a particular event awards hero upgrade materials or gives a material-specific bonus.
