Choose your class for the way you want to fight; treat species as a secondary modifier that can complement it. For ranged damage, consider Archer or Magician. For close combat, compare Warrior’s durability with Thief’s speed or Striker’s gauntlet-based melee. Priest is geared toward party healing. Species rankings are a guide’s opinion, not a universal answer, and the available sources disagree on the species roster—check the current in-game options before committing.
Start with the combat role you want
Class is the more useful first decision because it sets your broad combat role. Pocket Gamer’s guide, updated September 2, 2026, describes six classes in detail, but its tier table also includes Samurai without explaining whether it is a base class. Treat its class descriptions as guidance rather than an official or tested balance ranking.

These descriptions make the practical trade-offs clearer than the tier labels alone: a party healer may be a better fit than a higher-ranked damage class if you want to support a group, while a fragile attacker may suit you if you prefer speed over durability.
Use species to complement your class
Pocket Gamer reports 12 species and publishes the following tier order. These placements are subjective editorial rankings, not official ratings. The number of species is also disputed by other community search results, so use this as a snapshot of that guide rather than a definitive current roster.

The guide’s trait examples show why species choice can be about fit rather than picking the highest letter grade:
- Seraphim: the guide highlights +2.5% fire resistance and +1 Luck.
- Human: it notes increased damage against undead and an active that converts 50 hunger into stamina. The guide does not establish whether that conversion is a recurring or one-time allowance.
- Elf: it highlights reduced cooldowns and an invisibility active.
- Slime: it describes passive HP recovery from collected blobs.
Pocket Gamer gives Human’s increased damage against undead as an example of a species trait that can complement a class. In practice, first settle on the combat role you enjoy, then compare the species traits available to you for a benefit that supports that role or your preferred situations.

Check the current choices before committing
There is no reliable basis here for treating every roster count, species rate, reroll cost, or progression detail as current. One community wiki search result lists 14 species and different rates, while another result shows a different race table; those pages could not be opened, and search snippets are not enough to confirm live mechanics. Check the character creator and current developer announcements for the options and costs shown to your account.
A community classes wiki search result says there are six base classes and branches at level 30, and names subclasses including Blademaster, Knight, Berserker, Sharpshooter, Beast Tamer, Assassin, Ninja, Ashura, Monk, Warlock, Sorcerer, and Cleric. The underlying page was inaccessible, and those names do not align cleanly with every class label in Pocket Gamer’s guide. Treat the list as unverified and use the in-game class or subclass menu to confirm what is available before making a progression choice.

How much weight to give the tier list
Pocket Gamer’s September 2, 2026 guide is a useful starting point for role descriptions and its author’s preferences, but its rankings are not a controlled class comparison, published game-balance data, or an official developer ranking. Its own class count and table are inconsistent: it says six classes are available while the tier table also includes Samurai. Do not infer from that table alone that Samurai is a confirmed seventh base class.
Because Rune Slayer’s balance, roster, and progression can change, prioritize a playstyle you will enjoy and verify volatile details in-game. MrGuider’s directory page, headed September 2026, says it has no official Trello or wiki links; the Trello link it references is labeled unofficial. That leaves the in-game menu and developer channels as the sensible places to check current availability.
