Riot describes it as a two-to-four-player introduction with four ready-to-play decks. You can also start with a preconstructed Champion Deck, while booster packs and displays are better suited to collecting or expanding a collection.
For current stock, check Riot’s official store link and local game shops; availability depends on your region and can change. Riot’s product page links to Riot Merch, and its play-network tools can help you find nearby places to play.
Which Riftbound product should you buy first?
Choose based on whether you want to learn with a group, begin with one champion-focused deck, or collect cards. Riot’s descriptions make Proving Grounds the clearest single-box starting point for a group; the other options serve different needs.

Proving Grounds: the strongest one-box group option
Riot describes Proving Grounds as an introductory experience featuring Annie, Master Yi, Lux, and Garen. Its preview-season article says the box has four ready-to-play decks. The official product page specifies that it is designed for two to four players. If your goal is to open one box and learn with other people, this is the most directly supported choice in Riot’s product descriptions. (Riot product page; Preview season details)

Champion Decks: a single champion-focused start
Riot also lists preconstructed Champion Decks, with Jinx, Viktor, and Lee Sin named as examples. This is the alternative to consider if you want one deck centered on a champion rather than a multi-deck introductory box. Product availability can differ by market, so verify the specific set and language on the live listing before buying. (Riot product page)
Boosters and displays: for collecting and expansion
Riot lists booster packs and displays. For Origins, Riot’s product and preview information gives 24 packs per display and 14 cards per pack. Since booster contents are randomized, they are not a dependable way to obtain a particular card or build a specific deck. Where can you buy Riftbound?
- Check Riot Merch. Riot’s official product page links to its merchandise store. A product page or store link does not guarantee that a particular item is currently in stock or ships to your location. Start at Riot’s Riftbound product page, then confirm availability and shipping on the live store listing.
- Ask local game shops. Riot identifies game shops as a retail channel. Contact the shop directly about the product, language, price, and whether it is available for pickup or delivery; a nearby event listing alone does not confirm inventory. (Riot’s retail and reprint update)
- Find nearby play through the Riftbound Play Network. Riot’s PlayRiftbound.com announcement describes local organized-play discovery and registration. Use it to locate a community, then ask the venue whether it sells the box or deck you want. An event venue is not necessarily a retailer. (PlayRiftbound.com announcement)
- Check online retailers and marketplaces carefully. Compare the live listing’s seller, item, language, shipping terms, and price. Do not assume a marketplace seller is officially authorized unless that status is verified.
What the dated availability notices mean
Stock information can become outdated quickly, especially when products are restocked in waves. On March 31, 2026, Riot said Proving Grounds reprints had begun arriving in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with additional EU and US deliveries planned. Riot also said Origins boosters were being released in waves and that further restocks were coming. Those statements describe supply at that time; they do not establish current stock on October 4, 2026. Check the live store or contact a local retailer for your region. (Riot’s March 2026 update)
Radiance purchase drawing: the announced window has closed
Riot’s September 17, 2026 notice said players in North America and Europe could sign up for a selection process to purchase one Radiance Booster Display. Sign-up ran September 25–30, selections were due to begin October 5, and fulfillment was due to begin October 23. As of October 4, the sign-up window was closed and selection had not yet begun. This was a specific process for that Radiance announcement, not a general purchasing rule for Riftbound products. (Riot’s Radiance store update)

Radiance release schedule
Riot’s roadmap, last updated September 22, 2026, lists an October 23, 2026 launch for Radiance in English, Chinese, and French. Release schedules can change, so check the current Riot roadmap before relying on a forward-looking date.

- For a group learning together, look for Proving Grounds first.
- If you want one champion-focused deck, compare the Champion Deck listings available in your market.
- If you buy boosters, treat them as randomized collecting or expansion products rather than a way to guarantee a particular card.
