September 2025’s notable scheduled games ranged from Hollow Knight: Silksong and Borderlands 4 to Silent Hill f, sports releases, and tactical RPGs. This is a curated retrospective, not a complete worldwide release calendar: dates and platforms below reflect the cited calendars and platform roundup, and are not a guarantee that every regional or platform version launched on the same day.

Standout releases and who they suit
For action-adventure: Hollow Knight: Silksong
PC Gamer gives September 4 as the PC launch date. Nintendo’s roundup lists both a Switch version and a separate Switch 2 Edition. Its page showed a regular digital-store price of $19.99 for each listing when retrieved; that is a historical listing, not a current-price claim. The platform entries and roundup date are available on Nintendo’s page.
For a looter shooter: Borderlands 4
PC Gamer marks September 12 as the PC date and describes a new Vault Hunter crew. The cited passage establishes a PC highlight, not a complete platform-by-platform schedule, so check the store or platform listing for the version you intend to play.
#1 Best Overall
- Boss Rush: A challenge mode where you battle bosses from each game consecutively in a time attack!
- Save/Load Anytime: Save or load your game at any point during gameplay. Rewind Function: A handy feature allowing you to rewind and retry at any point
- Screen Filtering Function: Adjust resolution or apply screen filters to play with your preferred visual settings.
- BOMB Radio: Listen to original soundtracks from each title. You can also create your own playlists.
- Gallery: Browse art works and development materials. Over 200 items in total!
For horror: Silent Hill f and Dying Light: The Beast
PC Gamer names both among its notable September PC releases, but the cited passage does not provide their exact dates. Nintendo’s roundup also marked Cronos: The New Dawn “Available now” in its September 5 article and describes it as third-person survival horror; that wording places it in the context of the roundup, not as a confirmed September 5 launch.
For tactics: Final Fantasy Tactics
Nintendo lists FINAL FANTASY TACTICS – The Ivalice Chronicles for Switch and Switch 2 on September 30. The publisher’s roundup describes tactical positioning as part of its play and says the Switch 2 version raises frame rates and resolution without adding or changing content.

For sports or a familiar platforming series

How to read September release calendars
Release calendars are not always directly comparable. GameSpot’s 2025 schedule covers Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, mobile, and more, and distinguishes dated games from titles assigned only a year window. Shacknews’ calendar includes release windows, early-access games, expansions, and DLC as well as dated releases. A game appearing on one calendar but not another does not by itself mean it was delayed or omitted from release.

- 【Plug and Play】Buy and enjoy an endless journey of games. Language is English. Some games are multilingual and can recognize the host language and display the same language as the host.
- 【How to use】Insert the SD card into the game cartridge and install your favorite games into the console. Each game can save the progress of the game.
- 【Safe and reliable】Although it is a third-party product, it has the same functions as the official one, so you can play it anytime when you insert the card.
- Check platform first. A date for PC should not be assumed to apply to Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox. This is particularly important when a roundup lists multiple editions or platform entries separately.
- Separate exact dates from windows. A specific day is more precise than a month or year estimate, but calendars can be revised and do not establish every region’s timing.
- Identify the release type. Some calendars include ports, early access, expansions, and downloadable content alongside new full games. Compare like with like when deciding what “coming out” means.
- Read “available now” in context. Nintendo’s September 5 roundup uses that label for some games; it does not mean those titles all launched on September 5.
Scope and sources
This guide brings together selected entries from Nintendo of America’s U.S. Switch and Switch 2 roundup, PC Gamer’s PC-focused September highlights, and calendar descriptions from GameSpot and Shacknews. Nintendo’s article was published September 5, 2025, so it includes some titles already labeled “Available now” as well as later dates. GameSpot published its schedule December 19, 2025; Shacknews’ calendar was published December 18, 2024 and states it was updated November 16, 2025. Their different coverage rules mean none should be treated as a definitive, exhaustive global list.
Eastasiasoft announced on September 1, 2025, that it had dates, prices, and target platforms for eight September releases across consoles and PC, but the cited announcement excerpt does not identify those games individually, so they are not named here.
