Laptop Mag’s early Black Friday roundup, last updated November 14, 2024, reported console and game prices at Walmart—including an Xbox Series X 1TB disc console for $449 and an all-digital console-and-controller bundle for $489. Those are historical prices, not current offers. The article’s introductory and detailed lists also conflict, so it does not establish one reliable set of nine picks.
These were November 2024 prices, not a live Walmart sale
The headline’s “up to 60% off” claim belongs to Laptop Mag’s historical deal coverage. As of October 5, 2026, the figures below should not be treated as available prices: stock, sellers, item condition, and current pricing have not been verified. The article’s former-price figures are its reported comparisons, not proof of a typical market price.

The article’s nine picks do not form one consistent list
The introduction names eight products and adds a general link to browse deals; its list includes Dead Island 2 for PS5 at $17, previously $47. The detailed sections name nine items, but include an Xbox Series S entry and Madden NFL 25 for PS5 at $35, previously $69, instead of Dead Island 2. The Xbox Series S section’s description then identifies an Xbox Series X bundle, making that listing’s model and bundle details unreliable as written.
Console prices reported in the roundup
| Item as described in the article | Reported Walmart price | Article’s former price | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X 1TB disc console | $449 | $499 | The article also reported Amazon and Best Buy at $449 in November 2024; these are historical comparisons. |
| All-digital Xbox Series X 1TB console plus extra controller | $489 | $599 | Bundle details are as described in the introductory list. |
| Xbox Series S (detailed section heading) | $345 | $360 | The section description instead calls the item an Xbox Series X plus extra controller; verify the model and contents independently. |
Game prices reported in the roundup
| Game and platform stated | Reported price | Article’s former price | List discrepancy or historical comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch) | $43 | $52 in the introduction; $59 in the detailed section | The article reported Amazon at $49 and Nintendo at $59 in November 2024. |
| Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PS5) | $20 | $37 | Appears in both lists. |
| Assassin’s Creed: Mirage | $19 | $49 | Appears in both lists; the platform is not specified in the supplied price details. |
| Hogwarts Legacy (Xbox One) | $25 | $59 | Appears in both lists; check that the edition matches your console. |
| Dead Island 2 (PS5) | $17 | $47 | Listed in the introduction, not among the detailed sections. |
| Nintendo Switch Sports (Nintendo Switch) | $35 | $49 in the introduction; $50 in the detailed section | The article gives conflicting former-price figures. |
| Madden NFL 25 (PS5) | $35 | $69 | Appears in the detailed sections, not the introduction. |
What to check before buying a similar deal
- Confirm the exact model. The Series S section’s title and description disagree about whether it is a Series S or Series X bundle.
- Check platform compatibility. The roundup spans Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X references. A game’s platform and edition determine where it can be played.
- Compare disc and digital formats. The two Series X offers differ in format, and the $489 entry also includes an extra controller according to the introduction.
- Verify the live listing. Confirm the seller, condition, stock, contents, and current price on the retailer’s product page; the 2024 comparisons do not establish today’s offer.
