Artstorm, the developer of Modern Warships, apologized after concept artist Alex Jay Brady said the game’s RF Bartini A-2000-7 closely matched a 2014 design of theirs that they had not authorized. Artstorm acknowledged that the design had been used as a reference without proper clearance, but the available report does not establish whether the two sides reached an agreement or whether the vessel was removed.
What is the dispute about?
Brady identified the RF Bartini A-2000-7, a vessel in Modern Warships, as resembling their 2014 ekranoplan concept. An ekranoplan is a ground-effect vehicle designed to travel close to the water. Brady said they had not given permission for the design to be used and that they would have been open to a request and payment.
Speaking to IGN, as quoted by Kotaku, Brady described the game vessel as substantially the same as their concept apart from minor differences. They also said it reproduced details they considered mistakes in their original design. Those are Brady’s assessments; Kotaku’s report does not provide an independent technical comparison or legal finding. Kotaku’s October 6, 2026 report recounts the dispute and the public responses.
What did Artstorm say?
On October 5, 2026, Artstorm replied publicly to Brady: “Fair call, and apologies from us. Your design was used as a reference without proper clearance. We’ll contact you directly to make this right.”

What does the report say about the ship’s in-game cost?
Kotaku relayed IGN’s estimates that acquiring the vessel could cost $50–$100 through random spins or up to $700 through outright purchase. These are reported estimates, not independently verified current prices or a guarantee of what a player will pay. The report does not establish whether those figures remain applicable.
