What it is
8-Bit Hordes is a real-time strategy game from Petroglyph Games, released for Windows in 2016. You gather resources, build and defend a base, then lead an army of orcs or humans against opponents. Its two factions are the Dark Orcs and their undead allies, and the Lightbringers, made up of humans, dwarves and elves. The game includes 24 offline campaign missions, 12 co-op missions and AI skirmishes with multiple difficulty options. Multiplayer and skirmish play use 10 maps, with online matches supporting up to eight players. Maps feature destructible environments, and base-building is central to preparing attacks. The game supports single-player, PvP and co-op, including online modes, as well as shared or split-screen PvP. It also supports shared or split-screen play, Steam Workshop, achievements and trading cards. Its factions and maps can interoperate with 8-Bit Armies, enabling crossover matches.
