What it is
A Boy and His Blob is a puzzle-platformer from WayForward Technologies about a boy helping a blob from Blobolonia confront an evil Emperor. Feed the blob jelly beans and it transforms into useful objects, which you use to solve puzzles and get past danger. Its beans include the Licorice Ladder, Apple Jack, Tangerine Trampoline, Caramel Cannon and Bubble Gum Bouncer. The story follows the pair through woods, swamps, caves, the Blobolonian Outskirts and the Emperor’s Citadel. There are 40 levels, hidden treasures and 40 additional challenge levels unlocked by collecting treasure. The game presents its story with hand-drawn animation. The Steam release supports single-player, achievements, full controller support, Trading Cards, Steam Cloud, Remote Play on TV and Family Sharing. Steam lists Windows, macOS and Linux; the broader platform list also includes Wii. The game was released in 2009, with its Steam release dated January 19, 2016.
