What it is
A Highland Song is an adventure game from Inkle about Moira McKinnon’s journey across the Scottish Highlands to reach her uncle’s lighthouse on the coast. Its routes cross peaks, caves, cliffs and valleys, with platforming that includes climbing, jumping and sliding. Weather and cold pose survival challenges, so Moira must find shelter along the way. Map fragments can be collected and placed to reveal quicker routes through a landscape crossed by both familiar and hidden paths. The hills also hold stories, secrets and memories, and what Moira finds depends on where she goes. Rhythm runs set movement to music by TALISK and Fourth Moon. The journey is designed to be played more than once to uncover further secrets. It is a single-player game for Windows and macOS, with full controller support, Steam Cloud, achievements and Family Sharing.
