What it is
Battle Mages: Sign of Darkness is a role-playing and strategy game set in Daenmor, a thousand years after a battle between the Lord of Chaos and the forces of the Order. Its story follows a young apprentice traveling north to study with a powerful wizard, whose identity as one of the Keepers shapes the events to come. The game adds four campaigns about conflicts among the nations, including the schemes of elves, the battle against Chaos and the rise of darkness. Each campaign has a distinct hero, and that hero leads troops throughout the campaign. Players can use a new Dark Magic school, recruit new units and upgrades, and encounter Dwarves and the Undead as new races. Other additions include single-player maps, a trade interface, new artifacts and items, and expanded troop tactics. Day and night conditions and simulated weather affect the setting. It is a single-player Windows game, released July 24, 2014, with Steam Trading Cards and Family Sharing.
