What it is

Grandmaster Chess is a chess game from Capstone Software for playing against the computer or a friend in local two-player mode. Its computer opponent has five adjustable skill levels, from beginner to grandmaster, and is described as learning from mistakes. Teaching Mode introduces chess basics and more complex strategies; a ratings feature lets players track their progress. Between matches, players can consult an Opening Moves Library of classical starting positions or use an analysis tool during computer practice. Boards can be shown in 2D or 3D, with eight board surfaces and seven piece sets. Blindfold mode offers another way to play. Steam lists single-player, multiplayer, PvP, shared or split-screen play, Remote Play Together and Family Sharing. The listed platforms are Windows, DOS and Classic Mac OS; the Steam platform listing is Windows.
