What it is

Impossamole is a platform game starring Monty, a mole drawn back into adventure after a strange cloud darkens his sunny island. The game is played across five levels. Players may choose among levels one through four in any order, but must complete all four before playing the fifth. Food and supplies appear along the way, and a shopkeeper may offer goods to buy. Weapons can be collected, and certain items improve their strength; each weapon has a limited usage time. Hidden rooms are placed throughout the levels. The current Steam listing identifies single-player and Family Sharing, with Windows as its Steam platform. The game is also listed for ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST and TurboGrafx-16. Core Design made the game, which was released in 1990.

  • Hidden rooms appear across the levels.
  • Collected items can strengthen weapons.
  • Listed for several classic platforms.
  • The fifth level requires completing the first four.
  • Weapons have a time limit for use.

Who it suits

It suits players looking for a single-player platform game with selectable early levels and a gated fifth stage. Players who enjoy collecting supplies, finding hidden rooms and managing temporary weapons may find those details appealing.

Impossamole combines platforming with supplies, shops, hidden rooms and temporary weapons. Its first four stages allow flexible ordering, while the final stage requires completing them all.
