What it is
KATANA KAMI: A Way of the Samurai Story is an action role-playing game from Acquire, released in 2020 for Windows. It follows a ronin in Japan during the Meiji Restoration, in Rokkotsu Pass, where swordsmith Dojima is in debt and his daughter has been taken as collateral. By day, the player crafts swords to help repay that debt; at night, they explore the twisting, randomly generated dungeons of Ipponmatsu Cave to gather materials. The game offers more than 100 weapons and nine fighting styles, with an isometric hack-and-slash approach to dungeon exploration. Dungeons can also be explored with others, including online co-op, while PvP and online PvP are listed as supported modes. In town, players can ally with, betray or stay neutral toward three factions, affecting the fate of Rokkotsu Pass. Familiar characters from the Way of the Samurai series also appear.
