The story begins on Hakolo Island, where Rathalos are disappearing and you inherit a mission connected to your grandfather Red and Guardian Ratha. Alongside Ena, a Wyverian girl who knew Red, you protect an entrusted egg while investigating environmental abnormalities. The egg hatches into a flightless Rathalos with small wings. You collect eggs, hatch companions, and add monsters such as Brachydios, Seregios, Nargacuga, Tigrex, Zinogre, Kushala Daora, and Teostra to your party.
