What it is
New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers is a town-building simulation from Arc System Works, released for Windows in 2017. You direct pioneers as they settle new land, assigning activities such as logging, mining, hunting, and fishing. Materials they gather can be used to construct buildings, which in turn support tasks such as processing logs into lumber, making textiles from wool, and growing crops. Wild animals can become pets and help gather materials, hunt, or carry pioneers. As the settlement develops, you can acquire more than 290 Invention Cards, whose effects can change activities such as farming and fishing. The game has three modes: Story, Survival, and Free. Story follows the effort to build a town and develop it into a city; Survival offers five difficulty levels; Free has no game overs and lets you use obtained cards freely. It is a single-player game with Steam achievements, full controller support, trading cards, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing.
