What it is
Phantom Club is an action-adventure game originally released in 1988 for ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC, with an emulated version published by Pixel Games UK for Windows. Players take the role of Plutus, a low-ranking superhero trying to save the Phantom Club from Zarg, whose influence has turned other heroes against the group. The game spans hundreds of rooms filled with traps, hazards and enemies. Plutus can use the Brainstorm power to fire psychic bolts, and progress climbs through ranks from Zelator toward Ipsisimus before facing Zarg. This version contains both the Spectrum and Amstrad editions. It adds saving and loading at any point, support for most modern controllers, control remapping, and image scaling and smoothing options. The Steam listing includes single-player, full controller support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. Its listed Windows release date is July 11, 2022.
