What it is
Touhou Shinreibyou ~ Ten Desires is a bullet-hell shooter from Team Shanghai Alice, released in 2011. Players dodge enemy bullets and shoot enemies, with a boss waiting at the end of each stage. The game’s spirit system links pickups and combat: defeating enemies can produce small divine spirits, which restore the spirit-world gauge and grant different benefits. With enough gauge, taking a hit can trigger an involuntary spirit-world phase; at maximum gauge, players can also activate it themselves. During this phase, the character is invulnerable and attacks at full strength, though a phase triggered by damage ends in a miss if its gauge runs out. Players can also use limited spell cards, and collect power and score items. Steam lists single-player, partial controller support, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. The Steam release is for Windows and is dated June 18, 2019.
What players like, and what they don't
- Stage-ending boss fights

- Optional spirit-world activation at full gauge
- Steam Cloud support
- Spell cards have limited uses
- Steam lists partial controller support
Who it suits
A fit for players who enjoy dodging dense enemy fire, stage-based shooting and managing limited spell cards. The spirit pickups and gauge add another resource to track during runs.
Ten Desires centers on bullet dodging and shooting, with spirit pickups shaping the run. Its spirit-world mechanic offers a powerful response, but managing the gauge and spell cards matters.
