What it is
VVVVVV is a puzzle-platformer by Terry Cavanagh built around reversing gravity instead of jumping. As Captain Viridian, players search for friends who have been scattered by teleportation and try to bring them to safety. Progress is held back by the challenges themselves rather than locks, power-ups, or switches. Frequent checkpoints mean completed challenges do not need to be replayed after a failure. The game includes time trials and a no-death mode, plus a level editor for making new areas to explore. Its soundtrack includes more than half an hour of chiptune music by Magnus Pålsson. Steam features include single-player, achievements, trading cards, Steam Cloud, full controller support, Remote Play on TV, and Family Sharing. The listed platforms include Windows, macOS, Linux and several other systems; Steam lists Windows, macOS, and Linux. The Steam release date is September 7, 2010.
