What it is

Shin Pokémon Save Editor is a free, local-first browser tool for Shin Pokémon and Generation 1 Game Boy save files. It works with parsed 32 KiB battery saves and can reproduce an unchanged export byte for byte. Saves stay in the browser without uploads, an account, or a backend. The editor validates main and box checksums and repairs them after edits. Trainer controls cover names, trainer ID, money, badges, play time, starters, map position, win streak, and Shin flags. Party editing includes species, nicknames, levels, moves, DVs, stat experience, legality reports, type coverage, healing, and PKHeX-compatible .pk1 import and export. All 12 boxes, inventory, Pokédex records, story events, towns, hidden items, coins, and Hall of Fame entries can be managed. It also offers semantic comparisons, highlighted hex editing, and Test Drive with a user-supplied ROM. The installable PWA works offline and includes undo and redo history capped at 200 snapshots.

Good, and not so good

  • Save files remain in the browser
  • Byte-for-byte unchanged exports
  • Checksum validation and repair
  • Edits all 12 boxes and inventory
  • Installable PWA with offline support
  • Limited to Shin Pokémon and Gen 1 saves
  • Does not distribute ROMs
  • Undo history capped at 200 snapshots
  • Browser-based tool requires user-supplied saves

Who it suits

It suits players editing Shin Pokémon or vanilla Generation 1 Game Boy saves in a browser. Users who want local save handling, detailed progression controls, and offline access may find its scope appropriate.

Shin Pokémon Save Editor offers extensive trainer, party, box, inventory, and progression editing while keeping saves local. Its stated game scope is narrow, but offline PWA support and checksum handling add practical control.
