Overview

Chunkbase Seed Finder searches for Minecraft seeds that meet conditions you choose. Select the edition and version you plan to play, then define what you want to find. Conditions can cover biomes, islands, terrain height, nearby features and clusters of features in the Overworld and Nether. You can measure them from world spawn, the origin or custom coordinates.

It is a browser-based tool, free to use and requires no account. Results appear in a list with a map preview. From there, you can copy or favorite a seed, or open it in Seed Map to examine the world further. The app also saves your conditions and most recent search, including results, locally on your device, so they are restored when you return.

Chunkbase is not an official Minecraft product and says it is not approved by or associated with Mojang. The legal notice identifies Alexander Gundermann and gives a c/o address in Fellbach, Germany; Chunkbase lists Fellbach as its headquarters and 2013 as its founding year.

Key features

Search with specific conditions

Rather than browsing seeds one at a time, you can set criteria and have Seed Finder look for candidates that match. Search conditions include biomes, islands, terrain height, nearby features and feature clusters. Nearby conditions can be checked within 2048 blocks of the selected target, using either a square or circular search area. Searches are available in both the Overworld and Nether.

The app includes presets for several common goals: an island start with a nearby village, multiple villages near spawn, a speedrun-friendly start, or a large mushroom island at the origin. These provide ready-made starting points for a search, while custom conditions let you describe a different kind of world.

Results and continuation

Each result includes a map preview. You can copy a seed, save it as a favorite or open it in Seed Map. Searches stop automatically when they reach a result or time limit. If you want to keep looking, choose Search more to continue.

Limits to keep in mind

Seed Finder's results are estimates, not guarantees of exact in-game positions. Spawn locations may be approximate, and feature locations can be inaccurate or absent. The app samples areas to evaluate some conditions, which can overlook small biome patches or influence terrain measurements. Treat a match as a candidate to check rather than proof that every requested detail will appear precisely as expected.

Pricing

Chunkbase Seed Finder is free, with no account needed. The listed pricing model is free, and there is a free plan.

Platforms

Seed Finder runs in a web browser and supports Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions. Choose the edition and game version for the world you intend to use. Chunkbase recommends a current version of a major browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari; older browsers may have some features disabled.

The app works on phones and tablets. Searching is computationally expensive, however, so a fast multi-core CPU can check more seeds in the same amount of time. Device compatibility does not mean searches will run equally quickly on every device.

Who it's for

This tool suits players who have a particular world layout in mind and want to narrow down candidate seeds before starting a world. It can help someone looking for a village near an island start, several villages around spawn, a suitable speedrun beginning or a specific biome arrangement. Players planning a server together can also use conditions to identify seeds that fit a shared plan, then pass around the candidate seed.

It is less suited to anyone expecting every map detail to be exact from the search alone. Estimated spawn positions, potentially missing feature locations and the limits of area sampling all mean that results should be treated as leads to verify.

Verdict

Chunkbase Seed Finder is a focused option for turning a Minecraft world idea into searchable conditions. Edition and version selection, presets, distance-based searches, map previews and the ability to continue a search make it useful for narrowing down seeds without an account or fee. Its main caveat is precision: locations and sampled conditions can differ from what appears in-game. Use it to find promising candidates, and allow for checking the details before building a world around one.

Chunkbase's privacy information names log files, cookies or local storage, Google Analytics, Posthog and Raptive advertising. It says Google Analytics and Posthog collect anonymous usage information, and that Posthog data is processed under data protection regulations and stored in the European Union. Hyvor Talk is identified as the commenting platform. The maker invites feedback in the app's comments and asks people reporting an issue to include the edition, version, search conditions and, if available, an example seed.
