Overview

Nimbus AntiCheat is a standalone anticheat plugin for Minecraft servers. It uses movement prediction and packet inspection to identify cheats, with checks spanning movement, combat, world interactions, packets and inventory. The listing describes 43 checks, each of which can be toggled and tuned individually.

Detection and staff alerts are enabled by default, but punishments are not. That separation gives server operators room to observe alerts, adjust checks and test enforcement before enabling punishments. Nimbus is aimed at operators prepared to manage that setup rather than simply install the plugin and immediately rely on automated bans.

Key features

Configurable detection and context

Movement checks cover speed, prediction, bunny hopping, flight, unusual vertical movement, high jumps, step height, fall damage, slowed movement, webs, phasing, water movement, climbing, inventory movement and velocity. Combat checks target kill aura, reach, auto-clicking, critical hits, attacks through walls, invalid attacks and client-brand signals. World checks cover scaffolding, tower building, block breaking and fast placement.

Checks account for conditions that can affect how movement or actions appear, including latency, server lag, movement buffs, teleports, knockback, flight toggles and join grace. This context is relevant to false-positive handling, though operators still need to observe alerts and tune checks for their server.

Review, reports and enforcement

Staff tools include player reports, a staff inspection GUI, in-game controls for checks, violation logs, and commands to test alerts and punishments. The listing also includes replay analysis, staff notes and audit logs. Available enforcement actions include configurable commands, kicks, temporary or permanent bans, freezes, setbacks, cancellation of illegal actions and Discord notifications.

Punishment settings need particular care: Nimbus leaves punishments disabled until configured. Operators can start with detection and alerts, review what the plugin flags, test enforcement, and enable punishments when ready.

Integrations and administration

PacketEvents is required. Optional integrations named in the listing are PlaceholderAPI, Discord webhooks, Citizens, LiteBans, and LuckPerms or another permissions plugin. Nimbus also lists proxy support, group inheritance and temporary permissions. YAML is the listed storage backend, and there is no staff web panel.

Pricing

The Nimbus AntiCheat plan is 0.00 USD per free. The listing identifies it as a free plan.

Platforms

Nimbus is distributed as a server plugin for self-hosted Minecraft servers. It targets Paper 1.21.x, was built and tested against Paper 1.21.8, and requires Java 21 and the standalone PacketEvents plugin. Other 1.21.x builds may work, but are untested; compatible Paper forks may also work.

The listing names Spigot among supported platforms, but its stated version target is Paper 1.21.x. Check compatibility with your specific server software and version before deploying it. Nimbus supports Java-edition players only: Bedrock and Geyser players are not supported. Older versions such as 1.8 and 1.20 are also listed as unsupported.

Who it's for

Nimbus suits operators of Java-edition Paper servers who want individually configurable checks and staff-facing tools for reviewing violations. Its default setup is especially relevant to communities that can monitor alerts, calibrate detection, test enforcement and make an informed decision about when to turn on punishments.

It is not a fit for servers that need Bedrock or Geyser player support, or that run unsupported older Minecraft versions. Operators should also be ready to install PacketEvents and manage the plugin on their own server.

Pros and cons

Pros: 43 individually toggleable and tunable checks cover several categories; false-positive handling accounts for multiple gameplay and server conditions; punishments are off by default; staff tools include reports, inspection, logs and test commands.
Cons: Requires Java 21 and PacketEvents; targets Paper 1.21.x, with other builds untested; does not support Bedrock or Geyser players; has no staff web panel; operators need to calibrate checks and configure punishments themselves.

Alternatives

Other options to consider include Intave, Windfall Anti-Cheat, Shard, GuardAC, VoidAC, NoCheatPlus, ReducedX-Anti Cheat and Grace Anticheat.

Verdict

Nimbus AntiCheat offers a broad set of configurable checks and practical tools for staff to review reports and violations. Its alert-first defaults make room for operators to tune detection before enabling punishments, but that workflow requires active oversight. For self-hosted Java-edition servers on the supported Paper 1.21.x setup, it is a free option to evaluate; version limits, the PacketEvents requirement and lack of Bedrock and Geyser support narrow its audience.

The maker directs bug reports, false-positive reports and feature requests to Discord or the SpigotMC Discussion tab rather than reviews.
