If PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS will not launch, closes after its logo, hangs while BattlEye starts, or fails to connect on Windows 11, work through the fixes below from least disruptive to most. This guide covers the Steam PC version and focuses on launch and immediate startup failures—not low frame rates, account bans, or confirmed server outages.
Windows 11 is not listed separately in PUBG’s Steam requirements: the listing specifies 64-bit Windows 10 as the minimum. That does not establish that Windows 11 is categorically unsupported. Check the current Steam requirements, then troubleshoot the game files, drivers, BattlEye, configuration, and Windows components rather than assuming the operating system alone is the cause.

Before you begin: check requirements and scope
These menu paths and cleanup steps are for the Steam installation. If you installed PUBG through another official PC storefront, use that launcher’s file-repair feature and installation paths instead. Steam lists a 64-bit processor and operating system, DirectX 11, 8 GB RAM, 40 GB available storage, and minimum processors and graphics cards on its PUBG listing. The recommended configuration lists 16 GB RAM. Requirements can change, so check the listing rather than treating those figures as permanent guarantees of smooth play.

1. Restart Windows, Steam, and—if relevant—the router
A restart can clear a stuck game process or pending service state. It will not repair corrupted files, but it is a quick first check.
- Exit PUBG, then choose Steam > Exit so Steam fully closes.
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc. End a remaining
steam.exe,TslGame.exe,ExecPubg.exe, or BattlEye-related process only if it is clearly hung. - Restart Windows, reopen Steam, and try PUBG.
- If the problem is a connection failure, restart your router and test another website or online game.
If Steam still briefly reports the game as running, move to the launch-options and file-verification checks below.
2. Remove all Steam launch options
Old launch commands copied from forums can become incompatible after game or driver updates. PUBG Support recommends removing launch options rather than replacing them with another unverified command.

- In Steam Library, right-click PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and choose Properties.
- Under General, find Launch Options.
- Delete everything in the box, close Properties, and launch PUBG normally.
If the game still closes, continue to file verification.
3. Verify PUBG’s installed files
Use Steam’s verification when the game began failing after an update, reports missing files, or returns to the Play button right after launch.
- Right-click PUBG in Steam Library and select Properties.
- Choose Installed Files (older Steam interfaces may say Local Files).
- Select Verify integrity of game files and let the check finish.
- Restart Steam and test the game.
Steam may download or replace damaged or altered game files with official versions. If verification finds nothing—or the same error returns—go on to the fix that matches the symptom. PUBG also links this step from its crashing and performance guide.

4. Install Windows updates and check your graphics driver
Pending Windows updates or a problematic graphics driver can contribute to startup failures. In Windows 11, open Settings > Windows Update, select Check for updates, install available updates, and restart. Check again after the restart in case more updates are offered.

A driver update can resolve an incompatibility, but a brand-new release can also introduce a game-specific regression. If PUBG stopped working immediately after a particular driver update, consider using Device Manager’s rollback option or installing a known-stable driver directly from the manufacturer. Avoid third-party driver sites and driver-updater utilities.
5. Repair BattlEye if its service or driver is the point of failure
Try this when the message names BattlEye, the service hangs, or its driver fails to load. Seeing BattlEye during startup does not by itself prove it caused the crash, but its service installation, permissions, or interaction with other software are plausible failure points.
- Verify PUBG’s files using Fix 3, restart Windows, and launch the game from Steam—not by opening a game executable directly.
- Make sure your Windows account and User Account Control settings allow the service installation to request the required permissions. Do not permanently run Steam or PUBG as administrator as a universal fix.
- If the error persists, close Steam and remove only this PUBG-related file if it exists:
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesBattlEyeBEService_pubg.exe. Then verify or reinstall PUBG so the service can be recreated.
Do not delete BattlEye files for other games. BattlEye’s official FAQ also identifies missing runtime files, blocked service startup, third-party software interference, permissions, and Windows Test-Signing Mode as possible trouble spots. If you knowingly enabled Test-Signing Mode for development or unsigned drivers, disable it and restart; do not try to bypass BattlEye or disable driver-signature enforcement to get the game running.

6. Temporarily close overlays and potentially conflicting utilities
Test this if PUBG works after a clean start, fails on entering a match, or reports external software. Close one item at a time, then try the game so you can identify a conflict:

- Discord, Xbox Game Bar, NVIDIA, or AMD overlays
- MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server
- RGB and motherboard-control utilities
- Screen recorders and performance monitors
- ReShade or other injected graphics tools
- Virtual-machine, debugging, macro, or hardware-monitoring tools
- Third-party antivirus or firewall components
An anti-cheat warning does not prove that you cheated; it can mean BattlEye cannot safely coexist with a running program. Do not leave security software disabled. If necessary, pause protection only briefly for a controlled test, restore it immediately, and use the security vendor’s allow-list process only if a legitimate conflict is confirmed.
7. Return overclocked hardware settings to stock
Unstable CPU, GPU, or memory settings can cause crashes, especially under load. If PUBG or other demanding games fail, temporarily return these settings to manufacturer defaults:
- CPU overclock
- GPU overclock or undervolt
- XMP/EXPO memory profile and custom RAM timings
- Aggressive motherboard power or fan settings
Restart and test PUBG before changing anything else. This is a stability check, not a claim that all overclocking is unsafe. If crashes continue at stock settings, check the graphics driver and consider broader Windows or hardware troubleshooting.

8. Repair Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables
Try this when the error mentions a missing DLL, 0xc0000135, or a runtime problem during BattlEye initialization. On a typical 64-bit Windows 11 PC, install or repair both the x64 and x86 packages from Microsoft, then restart:

Never download individual DLL files from DLL-hosting sites or use unofficial “all-in-one” runtime bundles. If the same error remains after repairing the runtime, verify the game again or proceed to a clean reinstall.
9. Reset PUBG’s local configuration
Use a configuration reset if PUBG began crashing after a graphics change, monitor change, or experimental setting, or if it opens to a black screen. This does not reinstall the game and is not a guaranteed fix, but it can remove a problematic local preference.

- Close PUBG and Steam.
- In File Explorer’s address bar, enter
%localappdata%TslGameSavedConfig. - Rename the
WindowsNoEditorfolder toWindowsNoEditor.backup. Keep the backup if you may want to recover settings or keybinds. - Start PUBG. The game should create fresh default configuration files.
If it launches, restore settings gradually rather than copying the entire old folder back. Avoid editing arbitrary .ini values or forcing unsupported rendering settings. If the folder does not exist or the issue persists, try the remaining steps rather than deleting unrelated data.
10. Cleanly reinstall PUBG as a last resort
Reinstall only after verification and the relevant targeted fixes fail, or when the installation is clearly damaged. This removes more data and requires downloading the game again.
- Uninstall PUBG through Steam.
- Open
%localappdata%in File Explorer. Delete theTslGamefolder only if you are ready to remove its local data, including settings and cached files. Back up anything you want to keep. - Remove the PUBG-specific BattlEye file, if present:
C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesBattlEyeBEService_pubg.exe. Do not remove files belonging to other games. - Check Steam’s common-app folder, usually
C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon, and delete the remainingPUBGfolder if it still exists. Confirm it is the PUBG folder before deleting. - In Steam, open Settings > Downloads and select Clear Download Cache. Steam may ask you to sign in again.
- Restart Windows and Steam, then install PUBG again from its official Steam listing, rather than restoring a possibly corrupted backup.
PUBG’s clean-reinstallation guidance describes cleanup steps including local game data. If reinstalling does not change the failure, avoid repeating it; collect the crash details and contact support.
If other Windows apps are failing, repair Windows components
This is a separate diagnostic step—not a PUBG-specific fix. Use it when multiple games or applications crash or Windows reports damaged components. Open Command Prompt as administrator, run the commands in this order, wait for each to finish, then restart:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
sfc /scannowMicrosoft documents repairing a Windows image. If the tools report corruption they cannot repair, use Windows recovery options or contact Microsoft Support instead of repeatedly running unrelated commands.
When to check for an outage or contact support
If PUBG will not connect but launches normally, test another online game or website and restart the router. If all online games fail, investigate the router, firewall, Windows networking, or ISP; if only PUBG fails, check PUBG’s technical-issues support section for relevant notices and guidance. A local startup crash is not evidence of a server outage.

When the local fixes do not help, submit a request through PUBG Support. Include:
- Windows 11 edition and build
- CPU, GPU, RAM, and the drive where PUBG is installed
- Steam installation path and the exact error text or a screenshot
- Whether the problem began after a Windows, graphics-driver, or PUBG update
- Steps you have already tried and what happened
- The newest crash folder from

PUBG’s crashing guide says to zip the latest crash file and attach it to a support request. Avoid sharing account passwords or unrelated personal files.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS support Windows 11?
The Steam requirements list 64-bit Windows 10 as the minimum and do not separately list Windows 11. That is not the same as saying Windows 11 is categorically unsupported; an eligible Windows 11 PC should be troubleshot for the specific failure.
Should I always run PUBG or Steam as administrator?
