If Roblox will not update on a Mac running macOS Tahoe 26, first quit Roblox, then sign in at Roblox.com in a browser, open an experience page, and click Play. Roblox recommends this route for an “Upgrade Failed” message because it can install the latest Player instead of repeating the in-app upgrade. Roblox’s published Mac guidance does not establish that Tahoe 26 is universally incompatible; the right fix depends on whether the failure is an update, browser handoff, launch, or connection problem.
Identify what is actually failing
“Unable to update” can describe several different problems. An installer loop is not the same as a game connection error, and reinstalling will not fix a blocked network connection. Roblox’s desktop troubleshooting identifies running processes, damaged files, temporary internet files, and firewall interference among possible installation or launch causes. Before changing files, note the exact error, your full Tahoe version, Mac model and processor, browser, and whether the problem affects Player, Studio, or both. This makes it easier to tell whether a later step changed anything.

Is Roblox compatible with macOS Tahoe 26?
Roblox’s Mac troubleshooting page says Roblox Application and Studio install on macOS 10.13 High Sierra and later, and notes Apple Silicon/M1 support. It does not specifically confirm or rule out every Tahoe 26 point release or Mac configuration. That is not evidence of a blanket Tahoe incompatibility. Intel Mac owners should not assume their processor is unsupported based on that page; Roblox does not provide a complete Intel compatibility matrix there.

If you are using a Tahoe beta or developer seed, include its exact build when reporting the issue. A beta can expose a compatibility regression, but that possibility alone does not show Tahoe is the cause.
Try these fixes in order
1. Restart the Mac
- Save open work and choose Apple menu > Restart.
- After signing in, close unnecessary apps and try Roblox again.
Roblox lists a restart among its first Mac troubleshooting steps and recommends closing other programs before installing or updating. If the same error returns, move on rather than restarting repeatedly.
2. Force-quit Roblox and Roblox Studio
- Press Command-Option-Escape.
- Select Roblox or Roblox Studio if it appears, then click Force Quit.
- Try the update again.
If neither appears in the Force Quit window, open Activity Monitor, search for Roblox, and quit Roblox-related processes. This is a practical way to check for a stuck app process; do not quit unrelated processes.

- Open a browser and sign in at Roblox.com.
- Open an experience’s details page and click Play.
- Approve the browser prompt to open or install Roblox. If Roblox.dmg downloads, open it and follow the installer prompts.
This bypasses the failed in-app upgrade route. See Roblox’s instructions for the Mac “Upgrade Failed” message.
4. Try a different browser
If the browser does not hand off the Play request to the app, try Chrome or Firefox instead of Safari:
- Update or open another supported browser, sign in to Roblox, and open an experience.
- Click Play and accept the prompt to open Roblox.
- If it still fails, temporarily turn off Roblox-specific ad-blocking or privacy extensions and check the browser’s external-application prompt or security settings.
Roblox recommends trying Firefox or Google Chrome when Safari causes trouble. Browser labels vary by version; Roblox also identifies browser security settings and extensions as possible causes. See Roblox connection troubleshooting.
5. Check the Applications folder
- Open Finder and select Applications.
- Look for Roblox and try opening it directly.
- If it is missing, install Roblox from Roblox.com using Fix 3.
Roblox’s Mac troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the Applications folder and Dock for the app. A missing app and a browser that cannot hand off to an installed app require different fixes.

6. Remove and reinstall Roblox
Do this after the quick restart and browser launch steps. Reinstalling replaces application files; it is not a reason to erase unrelated Library data.
- Quit Roblox and Roblox Studio.
- In Finder > Applications, select Roblox and press Command-Delete, or drag it to the Trash.
- Empty the Trash, then restart the Mac.
- Sign in to Roblox.com, click Play on an experience, and open Roblox.dmg if the installer downloads.
Roblox says reinstalling can replace broken or deleted files. Its instructions are at How to reinstall Roblox and How to uninstall Roblox.
7. Clear Roblox logs
If reinstalling did not resolve the issue, Roblox recommends clearing its logs:

- Enter
~/Library/Logs/Roblox/and open that folder. - Delete the contents of that Roblox folder, then try to reproduce the problem.
Delete only the contents of ~/Library/Logs/Roblox/, not other folders under Logs. The logs may also help when reporting a persistent failure.

8. Reset Roblox preference files only
- In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder.
- Enter
~/Library/Preferences/. - Locate files clearly related to Roblox, such as Roblox-related
compreference files, and move only those files to the Trash or a temporary folder. - Restart Roblox so it can recreate its preferences.
Roblox recommends removing its own preference files when they are damaged. Do not delete the entire Preferences folder or files you cannot identify as Roblox-related.
9. Clear Roblox browser data
If the browser keeps downloading the wrong installer or repeating a stale launch request, clear cached Roblox site data and temporary internet files. Then sign out and back in, or retry in a private window or another browser. Browser menus differ, so use the browser’s current site-data controls rather than relying on a menu path that may not match your version. This step is for browser and handoff symptoms; it does not repair a network block elsewhere.
10. Check Local Network permission for connection problems
This is more relevant when Roblox installs and opens but cannot join experiences than when the installer itself will not download.

- Open Apple menu > System Settings.
- Select Privacy & Security > Local Network.
- If Roblox appears in the list, enable its access, restart Roblox, and test again.
Apple documents this permission and path in Control access to your local network on Mac. A prompt or permission setting should be assessed against the symptom rather than treated as a universal update fix.

11. Test firewall and security software safely
A firewall, antivirus, VPN, network filter, or parental-control tool may block Roblox. Temporarily pause third-party network or security tools only long enough to test the update or launch. If Roblox then works, re-enable protection and create a targeted Roblox allowlist exception in that tool. Do not leave protection disabled. Roblox’s guidance is at Third-party application or antivirus restrictions.
12. Test another trusted network
- Connect to a phone hotspot or another trusted network.
- Retry Roblox. If it works there, restart your home router and review its filtering settings.
- Temporarily disable VPN or DNS filtering to test, then restore it and adjust its Roblox rules if that identifies the cause.
- For a school, workplace, or managed network, ask its administrator to check the restrictions.
Roblox’s connection guidance notes router restrictions, blocked UDP traffic, antivirus interference, and unstable wireless as possible causes. It lists UDP ports 49152–65535 and says the client selects ports dynamically: Roblox general connection problems. Do not indiscriminately open inbound ports; ask the router maker or network administrator about the correct configuration. Roblox also has firewall and router guidance.
13. Install available macOS updates and escalate with details
- Open Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update.
- Install compatible updates offered for your Mac, restart, and test Roblox.
- If it still fails, contact Roblox Support and include the details listed below.
Apple’s update guidance covers macOS Tahoe 26 and system-data and security update settings: Update macOS on Mac. For a continuing Roblox failure, use the Roblox Support form. Include your username, exact error, Mac model, whether it has an Intel or Apple-silicon processor, full macOS version or beta build, browser, whether Player, Studio, or both are affected, reproduction steps, relevant Roblox logs, and recent changes to macOS, Roblox, browser, VPN, antivirus, or router.

Repeated reinstalls are unlikely to help if Roblox opens but online experiences fail, if the app works on another network, or if changing a permission or security setting changes the outcome. Likewise, a problem affecting multiple Macs after the same release may point to a Roblox-side regression or service issue rather than damaged files on one Mac. Preserve relevant logs and report the exact build and symptoms to Roblox instead of deleting more files. User reports of Tahoe-related connection or loading issues can suggest symptoms to compare, but do not establish a platform-wide defect: one anecdotal user discussion.
Use Roblox’s official site and support channels for installers and help. A third-party updater, Mac cleaner, cracked client, or configuration profile is not needed for these steps and may add risk.
