2025 is over, so this is a retrospective calendar of notable video game releases—not a list of upcoming games. It gives a few verified date-and-platform examples and explains how to read broader release windows; it is not an exhaustive worldwide list of every game released during the year.
How to use this 2025 release calendar
Release schedules are useful for finding dates and platforms, but they are editorial calendars rather than a complete, immutable record of every launch. The schedules reviewed are primarily US- and English-language coverage. They do not establish comprehensive coverage of every region, storefront, mobile release, early-access launch, or independent game.
- Exact date: A calendar date is more specific than a month, quarter, or year window. Keep confirmed dates separate from broader windows.
- Platform: A game can launch on multiple platforms, and platform availability can differ by date. Check the listing for the specific system or storefront you use.
- Release type: A new game, a port, a remaster, and an early-access release are not interchangeable. A calendar entry alone may not explain which kind of release it represents.
- Actual versus announced date: A date announced in advance is not proof that a game ultimately launched on that date. Check the eventual release when that distinction matters.
Coverage varies by publisher. GameSpot describes its schedule as covering Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, mobile, and more, with both specific dates and release windows: GameSpot’s video game release schedule. Game Informer says it updates its schedule as dates are announced and titles are delayed, and assigns games to a month only once dates are confirmed. Why 2025 schedules can disagree
Games are delayed, dates are announced at different times, and editorial calendars apply their own inclusion rules. Game Informer says it does not place games in a month until a release date is confirmed. PC Gamer’s December 19, 2025 retrospective notes that dates move and some games shift to a 2026 calendar. A schedule may therefore capture a planned date, a later revision, or a selected set of releases rather than a definitive record of what launched.
For a date that matters—such as when checking a particular platform or region—use the schedule as a starting point and confirm against the publisher’s announcement or the relevant storefront. The Xbox Wire recap is a primary-source example for the three Xbox-published dates in the table.

Was there a complete list of every game released in 2025?
No exhaustive worldwide total or complete count is established by the schedules and announcements cited here. “All” in a calendar headline should not be taken to mean every game across every region, platform, storefront, and release type. The practical answer is to treat calendars as curated guides and verify individual titles against their publisher or platform listings.
