For a prerecorded YouTube stream that should run around the clock, choose a managed cloud loop if you want the provider to operate the encoder and recovery workflow; choose OBS or FFmpeg on a VPS if you want control and can manage Linux, monitoring, stream keys, and outbound data. An Indian-hosted VPS may be a good fit, but the available pricing evidence does not establish its current all-in cost with enough transfer for a 24/7 stream. Compare the same bitrate and 30-day period, including transfer, taxes, IP costs, and the time needed to keep it running.
What actually differs between a cloud service, a VPS, and a home PC?
All three approaches can send prerecorded video to a YouTube live event. The main distinction is who operates the encoder and handles interruptions after you start.
| Option | Who runs the encoder? | Ongoing upload traffic | Setup and recovery work | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Managed cloud loop | The service provider | The provider’s connection after you upload the source, according to StreamNeo’s description | Use the service dashboard; check its stated limits and recovery terms | A creator who wants a prerecorded loop without leaving a computer or home connection running |
| OBS or FFmpeg on a VPS | You administer the rented server | The VPS’s outbound transfer | Install and configure the encoder, protect the stream key, automate restarts, monitor the process, and handle failures | A creator comfortable with Linux and ongoing server operations |
| Home PC with OBS | You administer your local computer | Your home internet upstream | Keep the PC, network, and OBS running; recover from power, operating-system, or app failures | Testing, learning, or using a computer already running for another purpose |
A managed service shifts operational work to a provider; it does not establish failure-proof uptime. Treat automatic recovery and capacity statements as vendor claims, not independent reliability results. YouTube’s verified-encoder directory lists cloud tools for continuous prerecorded streams, including Gyre, but directory inclusion is not an endorsement or comparative test.
How much data does a 24/7 stream use?
Bitrate is the key input when estimating VPS egress. A constant 4.5 Mbps stream sends about 2.0 decimal GB per hour, or roughly 1.46 decimal TB over 30 days. At YouTube’s current H.264 recommendation of 10 Mbps for 1080p30, the arithmetic is about 3.24 TB over 30 days. These are calculations from bitrate multiplied by time, before overhead—not published provider usage figures.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check how a VPS counts transfer and whether its allowance includes the stream’s audio, protocol overhead, reconnects, or retries. A plan’s advertised transfer allocation may be measured in GiB rather than decimal GB, so check the provider’s units and overage terms before comparing totals.
What bitrate should I use for a 1080p 24/7 stream?
Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance rather than a generic low-bitrate preset. For H.264, YouTube recommends 10 Mbps at 1080p30 and 12 Mbps at 1080p60. Its examples for 720p are 6 Mbps at both 30 and 60 fps. Check YouTube’s full table when configuring another resolution, frame rate, or codec.

- YouTube documents H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, with AAC or MP3 audio, and supports up to 60 fps.
- Test the stream before going live and monitor YouTube’s stream health.
YouTube Help’s instruction is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Encoder and server settings must work together: confirm that your chosen encoder supports the selected codec and that your VPS has enough outbound capacity for the bitrate you set.
What YouTube setup and stream-key rules matter?
First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become enabled. In YouTube’s live-control workflow, create or schedule the live event, then use its server URL and stream key in your encoder. YouTube lets creators reuse settings and keys, and reset a compromised key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the associated event.

- Keep the stream key out of public scripts, screenshots, repositories, and shared logs.
- Use YouTube’s reset option if you suspect the key has been exposed, then update the encoder or service using it.
- Confirm the correct event and key before starting a long-running loop; a healthy encoder process does not prove YouTube is receiving the intended event.
- Review copyright and reused-content rules before looping prerecorded material. Having permission to use a recording does not by itself guarantee monetization or YouTube policy compliance.
How do the costs compare over 30 days?
Do not compare a managed subscription with a VPS’s smallest advertised price alone. Model the same stream duration, resolution, and bitrate, then include transfer, tax, IP, storage, recovery work, and the value of your time. A verified current all-in quote for an India-hosted VPS with enough outbound transfer is not established here, so the figures below are reference points rather than a definitive cheapest-provider verdict.
| Cost item | Reference or calculation | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalOcean Basic Droplet examples | DigitalOcean’s pricing page lists US$4/month with 500 GiB transfer, US$6/month with 1,000 GiB, and US$12/month with 2,000 GiB. | These are displayed provider prices and allowances, not a quote for an India-hosted VPS. Check location availability, taxes, IP costs, and overage terms. A 4.5 Mbps stream’s estimated 1.46 decimal TB per 30 days exceeds the first two examples but is below 2,000 GiB before overhead. At 10 Mbps, the estimated 3.24 TB exceeds the cited 2,000 GiB allowance. |
| Home-PC electricity in India | StreamNeo’s India-oriented cost guide, updated 19 September 2026, models a 120–200 W desktop and ₹7–₹8 per kWh; its estimate is about ₹605–₹1,152 for 30 days for the PC alone. | This is a modeled estimate, not a measured machine or a universal household tariff. Measure the whole PC’s wall draw and use the rate on your own electricity bill. |
| Managed services | StreamNeo’s listed plans are per slot and vary by billing period; YTStream advertises US$19/month per 1080p stream and US$39/month per 4K stream. | These are vendor-published offers, not independent comparisons of reliability or equivalent limits. Check each provider’s current plan and checkout terms. |
For home-PC power, use a plug-in electricity meter compatible with your socket and the equipment’s load rather than guessing from a computer’s power-supply rating. An uninterrupted power supply may cover some power interruptions if sized for the measured load, but it cannot fix an ISP outage or an operating-system failure.

Which approach fits your situation?
Choose a managed cloud loop if…
- You want prerecorded content to continue without a home computer or home upload connection running.
- You prefer a dashboard and a provider-operated recovery workflow to configuring and monitoring a server.
- You are willing to check the provider’s limits, support, and current checkout price rather than assuming advertised recovery guarantees uninterrupted service.
Choose OBS or FFmpeg on a VPS if…
- You are comfortable administering Linux and want to control the encoder and process configuration.
- You have confirmed the plan’s outbound transfer can cover your actual bitrate for the full month, including likely overhead.
- You can protect the YouTube key and set up restart behavior, monitoring, and a plan for reconnects.
Choose a home PC for testing or limited circumstances if…
- You are learning the workflow or testing a stream before committing to an always-on setup.
- The computer is already running and you have measured its wall power and checked sustained upstream speed and any broadband data cap.
StreamNeo as a managed option
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for prerecorded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream. The service says it loops uploads from its cloud and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream; those are vendor-described features, not an independent uptime finding. Each slot includes one always-on stream, up to 10 GB of pooled storage per slot across active slots, playlists and 24/7 looping, and support. StreamNeo says uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encoding or quality tiers.
StreamNeo’s listed billing options are: Daily $0.99 per day · Weekly $2.99 per week · Monthly $9.99 per month · 6 months $49.99 for 6 months · Yearly $89.99 a year. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing length changes. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Contact support about five or more slots.
