At Fate’s End is announced for 2026, but Thunder Lotus has not given it a release date. While you wait, the best game to choose depends on which part of Spiritfarer you want more of: its spirit-care management, its reflective storytelling, or its quieter adventure atmosphere. Start with Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition if you have not played it; try Spirittea for spirits and management, or The Last Campfire for a compact puzzle-led journey.
What to expect from At Fate’s End
Thunder Lotus lists At Fate’s End for 2026 on PC storefronts, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, and lists Xbox Game Pass availability. Its official page gives a year, not a day or month, so the window could change. Thunder Lotus’ official game page has the current announcement.

This is not presented as a direct Spiritfarer sequel or another cozy management sim. The new game follows Shan, the youngest daughter of the ruling Hemlock dynasty, amid conflict within her family. Thunder Lotus describes it as an action-adventure with duels and more action-driven play. In an interview with Xbox Wire, the developers discussed their intent for narrative and mechanics to give choices emotional weight. Read Xbox Wire’s interview.
Thunder Lotus Creative Director Nicolas Guérin said the studio is taking what it learned from Spiritfarer—“that rich emotional core, that interplay of mechanics and narrative”—into new territory. That points to a shared interest in emotionally charged storytelling, not necessarily a shared gameplay loop. Thunder Lotus’ announcement also said Spiritfarer had sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide as of 2025; that is a dated studio figure, not a current total.

Which Spiritfarer-like game fits what you want?
| Game | Best for | What overlaps with Spiritfarer | What differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition | Players who have not played the original, or want its complete released edition | Spirit relationships, exploration, crafting and management, reflective themes | It is Spiritfarer itself, rather than a separate alternative |
| Spirittea | Players who want spirits within a life-sim and management framework | Supernatural characters and management play | Its official description does not establish the same narrative focus, boat-building, or emotional arc |
| The Last Campfire | Players who want a shorter-feeling, puzzle-centered story adventure | Reflective atmosphere and a journey through a strange world | It is built around puzzle exploration, not boat management or caring for a group of spirits |
Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition
Choose this if you have not played Spiritfarer
The closest match is the game that defines the comparison. Thunder Lotus describes Spiritfarer as a cozy management game about death: you build a boat, explore, care for spirit friends, and help them pass on. The blend of practical tasks and farewells is what makes it a more specific recommendation than a game that merely has a gentle tone. See Thunder Lotus’ description of Spiritfarer.
Steam lists Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition as released on August 18, 2020, and says it includes the base game and three major content updates. Nintendo’s official US store also lists Spiritfarer for Nintendo Switch. Check the Steam listing or Nintendo’s US store listing.

Its subject matter is not uniformly light: Steam advises parental guidance for themes including death, disability, mental illness, and suicide. Review the store page if you need more content guidance.
Spirittea
Choose this if spirits and management are the draw
Spirittea is an adjacent pick for players who want to manage a life-sim experience involving spirits. Its official site calls it both a life sim and a management game and describes spirits who need help. That makes it a reasonable choice for the supernatural-and-management side of Spiritfarer, but the available official description does not establish a close match for Spiritfarer’s boat-building, character arcs, or treatment of loss. Read the official Spirittea description.

The Last Campfire
Choose this if you want a reflective puzzle journey
The Last Campfire centers on a lost ember seeking meaning and a way home through a puzzling place.
