1. Buy Minecraft for PC through Minecraft.net
The official PC product is Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition, a bundle that includes both editions for PC. The best fit depends mainly on what devices your friends use, whether you want Java mods and servers, and which controls you prefer.
| Edition | Best fit | Cross-play and controls |
|---|---|---|
| Java | Players interested in community mods and Java community servers. | Cross-play is limited to Java players on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It does not cross-play with Bedrock console or mobile players. |
| Bedrock | Players who want to play with friends on supported Bedrock devices. | Supports cross-play across supported Windows, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and mobile platforms; offers controller and touch support. |
The PC bundle is not a console or mobile license. For those devices, purchase through the corresponding platform store.
Download and access the PC game
- Install the Minecraft Launcher through the Microsoft Store or from the Minecraft download page.
- Sign in to the Launcher with the same Microsoft account used for the purchase. The Launcher is the PC hub for accessing Minecraft games, and the matching account lets the game appear in your library.
2. Buy Minecraft for Xbox
For Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles, Minecraft Help directs buyers to the Xbox Store/Microsoft Store. Check the store listing for your exact console and account before purchasing.
