Short answer: there is no clearly verified, officially supported Grounded dedicated-server hosting option in the documentation reviewed for this guide. Obsidian documents player-hosted multiplayer, cross-play, and Shared Worlds—not a downloadable Grounded dedicated-server application.
That means Kamatera, Hostinger, IONOS, InterServer, and Ultahost may sell useful VPS or dedicated infrastructure, but none should automatically be treated as a Grounded server host. A VPS gives you a computer to administer; it does not provide the Grounded server software needed to create a persistent, unattended game server.
Grounded server hosting: the verdict
If your goal is for friends to access a shared Grounded world while your PC or console is offline, start with Grounded Shared Worlds, not a generic VPS. Obsidian’s official documentation describes Shared Worlds as the supported way to make a world available across players and platforms. It also documents cross-platform multiplayer and cross-platform Playground transfers.
Grounded requires a free Xbox or Microsoft account for the relevant cross-platform features, and players may need the online-service subscription required by their platform. Obsidian also recommends that someone other than the Nintendo player host when a group includes Nintendo players.

Shared Worlds are not dedicated servers
These terms describe different things:
| Capability | Shared World | Player-hosted session | Generic VPS | True dedicated server |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Officially documented for Grounded | Yes | Yes, where applicable | No | Not verified in the reviewed sources |
| Requires a separate server application | No | No | Only if compatible software exists | Yes |
| World can be accessed without the original creator hosting every session | Designed for this use | Generally host-dependent | Not applicable by itself | Normally yes |
| Game-level administration and backups | Limited to the official feature | Limited | Operating-system level only | Normally available |
| Cross-platform support | Must follow Grounded’s rules | Must follow Grounded’s rules | Not automatic | Must be specifically verified |
A Shared World uses Grounded’s official service and save system. It is not a rented Windows machine, and it does not give you root access, a remote console, custom server settings, or the administration model associated with games that publish dedicated-server files.
Why “Grounded server hosting” rankings are misleading
Some current rankings use “Grounded hosting” to describe physically located server infrastructure rather than a verified Grounded game server. For example, a HostAdvice comparison lists Kamatera, Ultahost, Hostinger, IONOS, and InterServer, but the page does not demonstrate an official Grounded server binary, supported operating system, installation procedure, required ports, save location, or Grounded-specific support.
Its listed prices are also inconsistent between the comparison table and individual sections, and may reflect different regions, promotions, billing periods, or renewal terms. Treat those figures as leads for further checking—not as verified Grounded hosting prices.

Five providers readers may encounter
The following are generic infrastructure candidates, not confirmed Grounded dedicated-server hosts. Their inclusion means only that they may provide a VPS, Windows machine, or dedicated server suitable for other workloads or carefully verified experiments.
Rank #2
1. Kamatera: customizable Windows VPS infrastructure
Kamatera’s Windows VPS service offers configurable virtual machines, administrator-level control, selectable operating systems, optional backup features, and technical support. Its dedicated Windows VPS page provides another infrastructure option.
Grounded compatibility: Not independently verified.
Kamatera may suit an experienced administrator who needs a remotely managed Windows machine for legitimate supporting services or another game with an official server package. It is a poor choice if you expect a one-click Grounded installation. A Windows VPS does not resolve Grounded’s game-client, account, licensing, cross-platform, or unattended-hosting requirements.
2. Hostinger: game-panel VPS plans
Hostinger’s Game Panel VPS page advertises root access, DDoS protection, one-click installation, automatic weekly backups, and multiple VPS configurations. The reviewed plans ranged from 1 to 8 vCPUs, 4 to 32 GB of RAM, 50 to 400 GB of NVMe storage, and 4 to 32 TB of bandwidth. Displayed promotional prices ranged from $6.99 to $27.99 per month, with higher renewal prices shown.
Grounded compatibility: Not independently verified. Hostinger’s supported-game documentation does not establish official Grounded support in the material reviewed.
“Game Panel” is not the same as “Grounded panel.” One-click installation works only when the provider has a compatible game package or installation method. Plan availability and specifications can vary by region, so check Hostinger’s current plan parameters before buying.
Rank #3
3. IONOS: conventional VPS and dedicated infrastructure
IONOS dedicated servers provide general-purpose dedicated hosting; the reviewed US page showed plans beginning at $70 per month. That is a price signal for general dedicated infrastructure, not for a Grounded server.
Grounded compatibility: Not independently verified.
IONOS could be excessive for a small group even if compatible server software existed. More CPU, RAM, or a whole physical server also would not fix a game architecture that depends on an official player-hosted session or platform services.
4. InterServer: a self-managed VPS candidate
InterServer appeared in the current generic hosting comparison as a VPS option. However, the reviewed evidence does not verify a Grounded-specific product, current Grounded setup guide, current price, or provider-supported server configuration. Check the provider directly at InterServer.net.

Grounded compatibility: Not independently verified.
Consider it only if you already understand server administration and can obtain written confirmation that the exact Grounded setup you intend to use is supported. Do not infer compatibility from storage, RAM, bandwidth, or a low introductory price.
Rank #4
5. Ultahost: another generic VPS candidate
Ultahost also appeared in the generic comparison, which mentions VPS infrastructure and security-related features. The reviewed evidence does not independently verify its current Grounded compatibility, setup instructions, pricing, or support commitment. Verify details directly at Ultahost.
Grounded compatibility: Not independently verified.
Use the same standard as with every other provider: require a current, reproducible Grounded deployment path before paying. Claims about DDoS protection or NVMe storage describe infrastructure, not in-game functionality.
Can a VPS run Grounded anyway?
There are three fundamentally different possibilities:
- Official dedicated-server deployment: This requires an official server executable or supported server mode. No such deployment path was verified in the reviewed official documentation.
- Running the complete PC game remotely: This is not dedicated-server hosting. It may require a graphics-capable machine, game ownership, Microsoft or Xbox account authentication, persistent login, remote-control software, and a continuously running game client. It may also create licensing, platform, anti-cheat, and provider-policy issues.
- Unofficial tools, wrappers, or mods: These are experimental and may break after Grounded, Windows, Xbox-account, or hosting-provider updates. Their security, legality, multiplayer compatibility, and support for PC and consoles must be verified separately.
Do not buy a Windows VPS merely because it can run Windows. Operating-system compatibility does not prove that Grounded can operate unattended as a persistent server.

For most groups: Shared Worlds
Use the official Shared Worlds feature when your priority is persistent access to a shared save. This is the closest documented alternative to requiring one friend to host every session, though it remains an official Grounded service rather than a rented dedicated server.

For ordinary player-hosted sessions: improve the host setup
Choose the most reliable player host based on proximity to the group, stable upload bandwidth, wired networking where possible, and a PC or console capable of maintaining the session. DDoS protection and “unlimited bandwidth” on a VPS do not guarantee low latency, low packet loss, or a better Grounded session.
For another game: buy only when dedicated files exist
A VPS is appropriate when the game publisher provides an official dedicated-server package and documents its requirements. Confirm the executable, operating system, ports, update process, save location, backups, and cross-platform support before selecting a provider.
For supporting services: use a VPS around the game
A VPS can host a community website, Discord bot, monitoring service, backup workflow, or game-server management tools for other supported games. Those uses do not prove that Grounded itself is running on the VPS.
Grounded hosting buyer checklist
Before paying any provider that advertises Grounded hosting, ask these questions in writing:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Do you support the current Grounded version?
- Do you provide an official Grounded dedicated-server executable?
- Can the server run without a logged-in game client?
- Can Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo players connect?
- Where are Grounded saves stored?
- Are automatic backups and rollback included?
- What happens after a Grounded update?
- Are Windows licensing and graphics requirements included?
- Is the quoted price promotional, hourly, monthly, or the renewal price?
- Are IPv4, backups, snapshots, traffic, and support charged separately?
- Can you provide a current installation guide or support ticket confirming compatibility?
- Is there a refund if Grounded cannot run as advertised?
If the provider answers with generic CPU, RAM, bandwidth, or DDoS specifications but cannot show the Grounded server software and setup path, you are buying infrastructure—not a verified Grounded server.
Bottom line for the five providers
| Provider | What it actually offers | Grounded status | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kamatera | Customizable Windows VPS infrastructure | Not verified | Experienced Windows administrators |
| Hostinger | Game-panel VPS plans with root access and backups | Not verified | Beginners hosting supported games |
| IONOS | VPS and dedicated-server infrastructure | Not verified | General dedicated workloads |
| InterServer | Generic VPS option cited by comparison coverage | Not verified | Self-managed VPS users |
| Ultahost | Generic VPS option cited by comparison coverage | Not verified | Users who independently confirm requirements |
Recommendation: use Grounded Shared Worlds for the official persistence-oriented experience. Consider a VPS only for a separately verified experiment or an unrelated service, and never assume that a generic game-hosting panel creates an official Grounded dedicated server.
