5 of the Most Extravagantly Expensive Gaming Setups Ever Publicly Documented

These five publicly documented extremes range from a professional esports facility to multi-GPU workstation PCs—with important caveats about what each price covers.

The biggest publicly promoted figure is TSM’s $50 million esports facility, but that is a professional venue—not one person’s gaming room. For a single PC, the standout listed price is £54,888.88 including UK VAT for Overclockers UK’s seven-GPU 8Pack Supernova MK3. These are striking examples, not a definitive world-record ranking: prices cover different things, and private custom builds are not fully visible.

This list ranks publicly disclosed prices while identifying whether each figure refers to a facility, a single PC, or a historical listing. Prices remain in their original currencies; advertised or listed prices are not treated as proof of a completed sale.

How to compare extravagant gaming setups

A “setup” can mean a tower and its peripherals, a furnished gaming room, a streaming studio, or a commercial esports facility. Those costs cannot be compared as though they bought the same thing. The ranking below includes the largest public figures that meet the gaming-related scope, while labeling each entry’s category and evidence limits.

  • Facility: TSM publicly promoted its esports center at a figure far above any listed PC, but the number is not an itemized, independently audited construction budget.
  • PC: Retailer and builder prices describe particular computer configurations; they may not include displays, peripherals, shipping, installation, or room work.
  • Confidence: A retailer listing or dated manufacturer announcement establishes a public price claim, not necessarily a completed purchase at that price.

1. TSM’s $50 million esports facility

TSM publicly promoted its Los Angeles esports facility as a $50 million center. That makes it the largest figure in this list, but it is a commercial facility—not a personal gaming setup or a $50 million gaming PC. The figure is TSM’s public claim, not an independently audited cost breakdown. TSM’s public post

  • Simplistic Design: Enjoy the latest generation of Windows 11 Home for your everyday needs. *MSI recommends Windows 11 Pro for business use.
  • Cool While Gaming: In conjunction with an ARGB fan Air Cooler, the Codex R2 features four system cooling fans; three in the front and one in the rear to pull in cool air and push heat out of the PC.
  • Turn on the Bright Lights: With the built-in RGB lighting, take your gaming experience to the next level by pressing the MSI LED button to cycle through lighting options. Customize lighting even further with MSI Center software.

A facility-scale budget can encompass real estate or leasehold improvements, construction, practice rooms, offices, coaching and meeting spaces, networking, broadcast infrastructure, equipment, security, and visitor areas. The public figure does not establish how much went to computers, how much to the building, or whether operating costs were included. That scope makes it impossible to compare directly with the price of a single machine.

2. 8Pack Supernova MK3: £54,888.88

Overclockers UK lists the current Supernova MK3 at £54,888.88 including VAT. Its product page marks it out of stock and warns that volatile RAM costs can affect the displayed price, so this is a listed price—not confirmation that a system is currently available at that amount. See the Overclockers UK listing

The specification is closer to a workstation than a conventional gaming desktop. 8Pack describes a Threadripper PRO 9995WX processor, seven RTX 5090 GPUs, 512GB of DDR5 memory (configurable up to 1TB), 24TB of storage, bespoke water cooling, and two 3,000-watt power supplies. Windows and Linux options, as well as a 4U server configuration, are also described. 8Pack’s Supernova MK3 specifications

Seven GPUs do not mean seven times the frame rate. Games need software support to use multiple GPUs effectively, and many modern games do not scale across them. The unusually high cost reflects parallel workloads such as rendering, simulation, and AI, as well as a 96-core workstation processor, large memory capacity, specialist cooling, power delivery, and custom assembly. It can also play games, but gaming alone is a poor reason to buy a machine configured this way.

3. 8Pack Supernova MK3, 2024 edition: £38,888

The earlier Supernova MK3 configuration was advertised at £38,888. Overclockers UK’s announcement specified seven RTX 4090 GPUs and described the system as a record-focused extreme build. Overclockers UK’s 2024 announcement

8Pack’s published specification lists a Threadripper PRO 7995WX, 512GB of DDR5 memory, 24TB of storage, two 1,600-watt power supplies plus an 850-watt SFX supply, and a bespoke water-cooling loop. The builder promoted testing in Cinebench, V-Ray, Corona 10, and Blender—workloads that illustrate why this configuration was not simply a way to maximize game frame rates. 8Pack’s 2024 specification

This is a historical advertised price for a distinct GPU generation, not the current MK3 listing and not proof of a sale. Its place on the list shows how a specialist workstation can command a price far beyond a typical gaming desktop when configured for intensive compute and custom engineering.

4. Antec’s $30,000 celebrity gaming PC

On October 14, 2021, Antec announced a $30,000 custom water-cooled gaming-PC build described as a celebrity-oriented extreme system. The announcement supports the advertised price and broad category, but does not establish the buyer’s identity, a final paid invoice, or a full component list. It also does not show that the figure included a room, displays, or peripherals. Antec’s announcement

  • Tempered Side Case Panel | Custom RGB Lighting | Keyboard and Mouse
  • 1 Year Parts & Labor Warranty, Free Lifetime Tech Support

That distinction matters for celebrity and influencer builds: a promotional price is not the same as a verified transaction, and a tower price is not necessarily the cost of a complete gaming space.

5. 8Pack Supernova MK2: £23,888.88

Overclockers UK’s historical Threadripper listings gave the Supernova MK2 a price of £23,888.88. Its published configuration included a Threadripper PRO 5995WX, 256GB of DDR4 memory, two RTX 3090 GPUs with water blocks, 36TB of storage, and custom cooling. The listing is historical, not a current buying option. Overclockers UK’s Threadripper PC listings

The MK2 illustrates how quickly a costly flagship can become a past-generation curiosity: its price remains evidence of an advertised high-end system, but its components and availability do not make it a current recommendation.

What these prices do—and do not—tell you

For the PCs, extraordinary costs can come from flagship GPUs, workstation CPUs, large-capacity memory and storage, custom water blocks and radiators, high-wattage power supplies, specialist assembly, and testing. A complete room or studio can add displays, furniture, audio, cameras, lighting, networking, acoustic treatment, and construction. A facility adds still more infrastructure and spaces beyond any one player’s station.

  • Special Add-Ons: Tempered Glass RGB Gaming Case | 802.11AC Wi-Fi Included | 16 Color RGB Lighting Case | Free iBuyPower Gaming Keyboard & RGB Gaming Mouse | No Bloatware | AI Workstation PC ready

Those additions are not included automatically in a tower’s listed price. The TSM figure is facility-scale; the Supernova and Antec figures concern PCs. None of the five prices establishes the cost of every display, accessory, room renovation, installation, or ongoing expense associated with a complete personal setup.

Are the most expensive setups worth it?

For gaming alone

Usually not. A far less expensive single-GPU system can deliver excellent gaming performance. A seven-GPU workstation’s price does not translate into proportionate gains in games, particularly where software cannot use its extra cards.

For gaming plus professional compute

Potentially, if the buyer has workloads that can use substantial parallel GPU capacity, workstation-class processing, memory, and storage. Rendering, simulation, and AI are more relevant justifications than ordinary play. Custom cooling and tightly integrated hardware can also bring maintenance, transport, and repair complexity.

For esports organizations

A facility is infrastructure, not a luxury PC purchase. Its value may be tied to team operations, coaching, production, branding, and shared spaces; the public $50 million claim alone does not reveal whether that investment paid off.
