The best game booster depends on your device. For Windows, Razer Cortex is the broadest general-purpose choice, while MSI Center and ASUS Armoury Crate make more sense on compatible hardware from those manufacturers. On Android, the safest and most useful options are usually the gaming tools already built into your phone: Samsung Game Booster, Xiaomi Game Turbo, and OnePlus HyperBoost/Game Assistant.

These utilities can change power profiles, manage selected background activity, control notifications, monitor temperature, improve touch controls, or apply per-game settings. None should be treated as a guaranteed FPS booster. Your CPU, GPU, RAM, drivers, thermals, display refresh rate, game settings, and the game itself still determine performance.

Quick picks

This is a compatibility-first comparison based on documented features and manufacturer support information, not a claim that these programs produced a particular benchmark result on every system.

Tool Platform and eligible hardware Best for What it can manage Main limitation
Razer Cortex Windows PCs Most Windows users who want one general-purpose utility Selected background processes, game launching, storage cleanup, and some per-game optimization Results vary by PC, game, workload, and settings; it is not a guaranteed FPS upgrade
MSI Center Supported MSI laptops, desktops, and gaming hardware MSI owners who want hardware-specific profiles Performance modes, Gaming Mode, monitoring, memory-related functions, display, audio, lighting, and other optional modules Many features appear only on supported MSI models and games
ASUS Armoury Crate Supported ASUS gaming PCs and laptops; Armoury Crate SE is for the ROG Ally series ASUS and ROG Ally owners Game Library, scenario profiles, system and application settings, device controls, and supported display tools Its useful controls are strongly dependent on ASUS hardware and software eligibility
Samsung Game Booster Supported Samsung Galaxy devices Galaxy owners who want built-in game controls Game-focused battery, memory, temperature, notification, and interruption controls Menus and availability vary by Galaxy model, region, One UI version, and game
Xiaomi Game Turbo Supported Xiaomi and POCO phones Users who want detailed touch, network, and performance controls Game profiles, touch response, WLAN, sound, display, GPU, memory whitelisting, and mistouch prevention High-performance operation can increase heat and battery consumption
OnePlus HyperBoost/Game Assistant Supported OnePlus phones and OxygenOS versions OnePlus owners who want performance modes and live gaming tools Performance modes, touch optimization, monitoring, notification blocking, and mistouch prevention Pro Gamer mode uses more power, and features differ by device and software version

What a game booster actually does

Game booster is a loose marketing term rather than a standardized technical category. Depending on the product, it may change the operating system power mode, prioritize a game, suspend selected processes, manage cooling behavior, control notifications, alter touch response, or apply a saved profile when a game starts.

That can improve consistency when a system is constrained by background work or an overly conservative power profile. It cannot create CPU or GPU capacity that the hardware does not have. A game that is limited by the graphics processor, thermal throttling, insufficient memory, shader compilation, or a poor network connection may not improve simply because a booster is installed.

Be especially skeptical of generic Android APKs that promise dramatic FPS increases by cleaning RAM or applying secret system tweaks. The strongest options in this guide are official Windows utilities or features supplied by the device manufacturer. On Android, the built-in tool is generally more likely to understand the phone’s processor, display, cooling system, and supported games than a generic Play Store or unofficial APK utility.

1. Razer Cortex: best general-purpose game booster for Windows

Razer Cortex is the most broadly applicable pick in this list for Windows users because it is not limited to an MSI or ASUS computer. Razer describes its Game Booster as activating when a game launches and allowing users to suspend selected processes and services while playing.[c001] That can be useful on a laptop or desktop where browsers, launchers, synchronizers, update tools, or other background workloads compete for resources.

Its System Booster can scan for junk files and help free storage, which is useful maintenance but should not be confused with a direct FPS feature.[c002] Razer also documents a Booster Prime optimization feature. The selected game must already be installed for Booster Prime to work, so it is not a universal setting that applies to every title or every PC.[c003]

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why choose it

  • It is the most flexible option here for a mixed-brand Windows PC.
  • It can automate selected background-process changes when a game starts.
  • It combines game-focused controls with basic storage cleanup.
  • It is useful for organizing optimization around individual games rather than applying one global setting.

Limitations

Do not install Cortex expecting a guaranteed FPS increase. Suspending the wrong service can cause problems with overlays, peripheral software, voice chat, cloud synchronization, updates, or security tools. Use selective changes, test one game at a time, and leave essential Windows, graphics-driver, and anti-cheat components alone unless you know exactly what a process does.

Razer also describes Game Booster as a feature in the Cortex application for Razer phones. That phone feature should not be treated as evidence that Cortex is a universal Android solution; the recommendation here is for the Windows application.[c002]

  • Expanded cooling area: Approximately 2.82x1.29 inches of extreme thermal conductivity cooling area, covering the CPU and battery module, protecting your phone from blackening or sudden shutdown.

2. MSI Center: best for MSI gaming hardware

MSI Center is best understood as an OEM control center, not a universal game booster. It is designed around supported MSI products and can expose hardware-specific controls that a third-party Windows utility cannot reliably provide. Its documented features include Gaming Mode, hardware monitoring, optional modules, and User Scenario profiles.[c004]

MSI documents scenarios including Extreme Performance, Balanced, Silent, Super Battery, and User. Gaming Mode can apply supported per-game settings, but the available functions depend on the MSI model and the particular game. A notebook guide lists possible functions such as changing system performance, freeing memory, controlling True Color and Nahimic, disabling the touchpad, controlling Mystic Light, and using Game Highlights.[c005]

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why choose it

  • It can coordinate power, cooling, display, audio, lighting, and other MSI-specific features.
  • Extreme Performance is available when maximum plugged-in performance is more important than noise or battery life.
  • Balanced and Silent scenarios are better choices for everyday use, quieter play, or battery-sensitive sessions.
  • Monitoring can help identify whether temperatures or utilization are causing a problem.

Limitations

Only supported functions appear for a given machine, and installing MSI Center on non-MSI hardware does not reproduce the same feature set. Extreme Performance can increase fan noise, heat, and power consumption. If a game has low FPS because its requirements exceed the hardware, MSI Center cannot remove that limitation.

MSI’s own low-FPS guidance treats the booster as only one part of diagnosis. It also recommends checking game requirements, confirming that the dedicated GPU is being used, installing games on an SSD, monitoring temperatures, adjusting resolution and graphics settings, checking network conditions, and updating BIOS and drivers.[c006]

3. ASUS Armoury Crate: best for ASUS gaming PCs and ROG Ally

ASUS Armoury Crate is the natural choice for supported ASUS gaming laptops and desktops, particularly when you want profiles that change with a game or application. Armoury Crate can scan for installed games or let you add them manually to its Game Library. Its scenario profiles can apply system configuration and application configuration, with additional display-related tools on supported gaming laptops.[c007]

For the handheld market, Armoury Crate SE is the ASUS interface built specifically for the ROG Ally series. It provides a game library, control modes, device controls, and real-time system information. ASUS states that Armoury Crate SE is currently supported only on ROG Ally-series devices, so it should not be presented as a general-purpose Windows utility for any laptop or desktop.[c008]

Compatible with Android phones, iPhones, Switch, iPads, laptops, and more. Package Includes: Cooler x1, USB-C to USB-C cable x1, user manual x1, magnetic ring plate x1.

Why choose it

  • It centralizes game launching and per-game profiles on compatible ASUS systems.
  • It can make switching between performance, balanced, and quieter modes more convenient.
  • It is particularly useful on hardware where power, display, fan, and control settings are exposed through ASUS software.
  • ROG Ally users get a handheld-focused interface rather than a desktop-style control panel.

Limitations

Armoury Crate’s value falls sharply on hardware that does not expose ASUS-specific controls. Do not assume that installing it on a non-ASUS PC will unlock the same modes or device settings. Also check whether a desired profile option is available for your exact model, BIOS, Armoury Crate version, and game.

The documentation used for this comparison includes Armoury Crate SE material updated December 23, 2025. Because ASUS changes supported-device lists and menu names, verify compatibility before treating a feature described in older documentation as available on a new device.[c008]

4. Samsung Game Booster: best built-in option for Galaxy devices

Samsung Game Booster is the best starting point for Galaxy owners because it is integrated into the phone’s gaming software rather than requiring a third-party booster APK. It is associated with Samsung’s Gaming Hub and Game Launcher experience and can provide controls related to battery, memory, device temperature, notifications, and interruptions while playing.[c009]

Samsung’s support material emphasizes that availability and feature names can vary by device and software version. Game Booster is also not available for every game app. A support page referenced in the research uses a Galaxy S25 running Android 16 and One UI 8.5 as its context, updated July 13, 2026; that describes one supported software environment, not a promise that every Galaxy phone has the same menus or controls.[c010]

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why choose it

  • It is already integrated into supported Galaxy phones.
  • It can reduce interruptions and provide game-focused device controls without installing an unofficial APK.
  • It can help you monitor or manage battery, memory, and temperature-related behavior.
  • It is the most sensible first step for Galaxy owners before trying a generic Android optimizer.

Limitations

Samsung Game Booster is not a universal Android booster. Eligibility depends on the Galaxy model, region, One UI version, and game compatibility. If the game is GPU-limited or the phone is overheating, the tool may help manage the conditions without increasing the phone’s maximum rendering capability.

5. Xiaomi Game Turbo: best built-in option for Xiaomi and POCO phones

Xiaomi Game Turbo offers one of the more detailed sets of phone-specific gaming controls in this comparison. Xiaomi describes game-scene perception, intelligent scheduling, touch-parameter customization, display enhancement, and a gaming toolbox.[c011] Depending on the device and software, the toolbox can include WLAN, touch-response, sound, and performance optimization, memory whitelisting, mistouch prevention, per-game GPU settings, and game-specific high-frame-rate modes.[c012][c013]

  • Universal Compatibility: This phone cooler provides two installation options – magnetic attachment and back clip fixation, making it perfect for most phone sizes. Whether you prefer the convenient magnetic snap-on or the sturdy back clip, it's designed to suit your needs.
  • Wired USB-C Powered — Requires 15W+ Adapter for Peak Performance: This is a plug-in phone cooling fan, not wireless. For maximum 32°C cooling and fast frost, use a 5V/3A or 15W+ USB-C power adapter (not included) and a 3A-rated cable. The included 2A cable works for everyday cooling.
  • Mute Engine Dissipation: Silent designing fan can efficiently emit wind from all sides, providing a stronger refrigeration effect, no disturbance to your gaming or your Vlog show.
  • Large Cooling Area & Plug and Play: About 4.65 sq. Inches extreme thermal conductive cooling area to cover the CPU and battery module, protecting your phone from blackening or sudden shut-off. Use the C-type cable(included), plug and play.

This makes Game Turbo particularly useful for players who want to change touch sensitivity, block accidental edge gestures, manage notifications, or choose different settings for different games. It can also expose controls that are unavailable to a generic Android app because Xiaomi knows which display, chipset, and thermal system are in the phone.

Why choose it

  • It offers more than a simple RAM-cleaning button.
  • Touch, display, WLAN, audio, GPU, and mistouch controls can be useful in supported games.
  • Per-game settings are preferable to forcing one aggressive performance mode on every title.
  • It is built into supported Xiaomi and POCO software.

Limitations

Xiaomi explicitly warns that prolonged high-performance operation can cause overheating and that optimizing game performance increases battery consumption.[c012] Treat the highest performance setting as a situational option, not the correct default for every session. If the phone becomes uncomfortably hot, starts throttling, or loses battery rapidly, a more aggressive mode may be making sustained performance worse rather than better.

6. OnePlus HyperBoost and Game Assistant: best built-in option for OnePlus phones

OnePlus HyperBoost is a system-level gaming technology used alongside OnePlus gaming tools such as Game Assistant. OnePlus describes HyperBoost as targeting stability, frame-rate behavior, touch response, and performance in supported titles. OxygenOS documentation identifies gaming modes including Pro Gamer, Balanced, and lower-power options. Pro Gamer mode is intended for maximum gaming performance but consumes more power.[c014]

On supported software versions, Game Assistant can provide touch optimization, real-time FPS, GPU, and CPU monitoring, notification blocking, and mistouch prevention.[c015] These controls are often more useful than a generic booster because they are connected to the phone’s own display, chipset, power management, and gaming interface.

Why choose it

  • It is already part of the OnePlus gaming experience on supported devices.
  • Live FPS, GPU, and CPU information can help reveal whether a problem is rendering load, processor load, or inconsistent behavior.
  • Touch optimization, notification blocking, and mistouch prevention improve control and reduce interruptions.
  • Balanced or lower-power modes give you alternatives to running Pro Gamer continuously.

Limitations

HyperBoost features are not identical across all OnePlus phones or OxygenOS releases. OnePlus has also discussed newer chip-level and rendering features for particular device families; those announcements should not be generalized to every OnePlus handset.[c016] Check the exact model and software version before expecting a named feature to appear.

Which game booster should you use?

  1. Start with the manufacturer. If you own an MSI PC, ASUS gaming PC, ROG Ally, Galaxy phone, Xiaomi or POCO phone, or OnePlus phone, use the supported OEM tool first. It is more likely to expose hardware-specific controls than a generic utility.
  2. Choose Razer Cortex for a mixed-brand Windows PC. It is the broadest Windows option in this list, especially if you want automatic game-launch behavior and selective background-process management.
  3. Choose the profile, not automatically the highest setting. Extreme Performance, Pro Gamer, or an equivalent mode can increase heat, fan noise, and power use. Balanced may provide a better overall experience if the game already runs well.
  4. Use per-game settings when possible. A competitive shooter, a graphically demanding open-world game, and a lightweight indie title do not necessarily need the same power, touch, or notification configuration.
  5. Measure the problem before changing everything. Check FPS, frame-time consistency, temperatures, GPU usage, CPU usage, and battery behavior. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it helped.

Why a game booster may not improve FPS

Game boosters are most likely to help when the problem is avoidable overhead: excessive background activity, an overly quiet power profile, interruptions, poor per-game configuration, or thermal behavior that can be managed. They are less likely to help when the game is already using the available GPU or CPU capacity.

Black Shark FunCooler 5 Magnetic Cell Phone Cooler for Gaming, Portable Mobile Phone Cooling Fan with RGB Light, Cellphone Radiator for iPhone Magnetic Series/Android/Tablet/iPad (Black)
  • 【20W Power Ultra-Fast Cooling】The wired magnetic phone cooler utilizes high-performance Peltier element (TEC) with high heat dissipation capacity, and its heat dissipation ability lowers the temperature of the main unit by about 95℉. NOTE: Connection to power supply required for use. Power must exceed 20W for optimal performance. Data cable not included in packag.
  • 【Simple Control】The cell phone cooling fan has a built-in Type-C interface, just connect the power cord and it is ready to use. Switch between overclocking mode and silent mode with the click of a button. 12N strong magnetic force holds the phone firmly in place and prevents it from falling off.
  • 【Compact and lightweight design】The Magnetic cell phone cooler weighs only 0.18 lb in a small size, leaving more space for hand operation and being without overheavy burden.
  • 【Quiet Operation】This smartphone cooler adopts noise reduction design, and the operating noise in silent mode is only 30db, allowing you to play games or watch videos comfortably.
  • 【Vertical Air Duct Design】The vertical air duct design of FunCooler 5 smartphone cooling fan focuses on the user's actual experience and innovative ergonomic design, which provides a comfortable grip and does not dissipate heat to the hand.
  • GPU limit: Lower resolution, texture quality, shadows, ray tracing, or other graphics settings. A booster cannot make a weak GPU render beyond its capacity.
  • CPU limit: Check processor usage, simulation-heavy settings, crowd density, view distance, and background workloads.
  • Thermal throttling: Monitor temperatures and whether clock speeds fall during a longer session. A short benchmark can look fine while sustained play slows down.
  • Memory pressure: Close unnecessary applications selectively. Do not assume that closing every background process is safe or beneficial.
  • Storage bottleneck: An SSD can improve loading and streaming behavior compared with a hard drive, but it is not a guaranteed average-FPS upgrade.
  • Network problem: A booster may offer network-related tools on some phones, but it cannot guarantee lower ping. High latency, packet loss, Wi-Fi congestion, and server distance are separate problems from local rendering performance.
  • Driver or firmware issue: Graphics drivers, BIOS, chipset software, and the game itself can affect performance independently of the booster.
  • Display limit: If the screen is 60Hz, rendering above 60 frames per second may not produce a visibly higher refresh rate, even if the system can render more frames.

A practical low-FPS troubleshooting order for Windows

  1. Check the game’s requirements. Compare the PC’s CPU, GPU, RAM, and operating-system version with the developer’s requirements.
  2. Confirm the power source and mode. Gaming laptops often perform differently on battery. Plug in the charger and compare Balanced with the manufacturer’s performance profile.
  3. Make sure the dedicated GPU is being used. A laptop may launch a game on integrated graphics instead of its discrete GPU.
  4. Check in-game resolution and graphics settings. Lower the settings that place the greatest load on the GPU before installing more utilities.
  5. Watch temperatures and utilization. If performance falls after several minutes, heat and throttling deserve more attention than a RAM-cleaning feature.
  6. Use an SSD where appropriate. Moving a game from a hard drive to an SSD can improve loading and asset-streaming behavior. MSI includes SSD storage in its own low-FPS guidance.[c006]
  7. Update carefully. Check the graphics driver, BIOS, and relevant system updates. Use the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s instructions for BIOS updates.
  8. Check the network separately. Stuttering caused by packet loss or server latency will not be fixed by a local FPS setting.
  9. Only then test a booster profile. Record the original behavior, apply one change, and test the same game scene or repeatable workload.

How to use a booster without creating new problems

  • Install only from the manufacturer’s official software channel or the device’s built-in settings where possible.
  • Keep essential security, anti-cheat, audio, peripheral, and driver services running unless the utility explicitly manages them for your model.
  • Prefer Balanced when the game is already smooth. Maximum performance is not automatically the best setting for battery life, acoustics, or component temperature.
  • Monitor sustained sessions, not just the first minute. Heat-related throttling often appears after the system has been under load for a while.
  • Do not stack several boosters. Multiple utilities may compete to control power plans, processes, overlays, fan behavior, or notifications.
  • Undo changes that cause crashes, missing overlays, broken voice chat, or input problems. A small theoretical performance gain is not worth an unstable system.
  • Keep expectations realistic. The most valuable improvement may be fewer interruptions, steadier frame times, better touch control, or lower temperatures rather than a higher FPS counter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do game boosters really increase FPS?

Sometimes they can improve consistency when background activity, a restrictive power profile, or a device-specific setting is holding performance back. They do not guarantee higher FPS and cannot overcome a CPU, GPU, memory, thermal, display, or game-engine limit.

Should I install a generic Android game booster?

Usually start with the gaming tool built into your phone. Samsung Game Booster, Xiaomi Game Turbo, and OnePlus HyperBoost/Game Assistant are designed for supported devices, while generic APKs may lack hardware integration and often make unsupported RAM-cleaning claims.

Which booster is best for a gaming laptop?

Use the OEM utility if the laptop is from MSI or ASUS. Razer Cortex is the more general Windows option for mixed-brand PCs. Before changing booster settings, check the dedicated GPU, temperatures, graphics settings, storage, drivers, BIOS, and power mode.

Can a game booster reduce ping?

It cannot guarantee lower ping. Some phone tools expose WLAN or network-related controls, but latency and packet loss also depend on Wi-Fi congestion, your router, internet provider, server distance, and the game’s servers.

The Bottom Line

Choose the booster that matches the hardware: Razer Cortex for general Windows use, MSI Center for MSI systems, Armoury Crate for ASUS PCs and ROG Ally devices, Samsung Game Booster for Galaxy phones, Xiaomi Game Turbo for Xiaomi and POCO phones, and OnePlus HyperBoost/Game Assistant for supported OnePlus devices. Use these tools to manage profiles, interruptions, thermals, and resources—not as guaranteed FPS machines. If performance remains poor, troubleshoot the hardware, settings, temperatures, storage, drivers, and network separately.
