These seven community-documented seeds offer distinct advantages, but use each with its listed settings and verify the result in your game version before committing to a campaign.
How to choose a good Anno 117 map seed
A seed number alone does not define a map. The map template, size, fertility and lode abundance, forest size, building slots, region, rivals and DLC state can affect the generated world. The Anno 117 Seed Finder specifically warns that changing options can change the result for the same seed.

Before selecting one, consider:
- Buildable space and coast: Your starting island needs room for housing and production, plus useful shoreline for harbor buildings.
- Early fertility and resources: Check that the starting island supports the goods your chosen region and cultural path need, or plan for early shipping.
- Expansion: Nearby islands can fill gaps in fertility or mineral resources, but claiming them takes time and ships.
- Pressure and pace: Rivals, pirates, exposed routes and limited island counts can make a seed more demanding.
For a reproducible result, note the full map profile alongside the seed, rather than saving only its number. Community sources describe useful starts and trade-offs, not a controlled comparison proving one seed is best for every player.
Seven map seeds worth trying

| Seed | Reported map profile | Best fit and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| 9670 | Island Chain; Large; Abundant fertilities and lodes. BLAST also lists forest size and building slots among its settings, but the cited summary does not provide their values. | Flexible options in both regions. Latium offers complementary Minerva, Ceres and later-island resources. In Albion, the Celtic start is attractive; a Roman run should plan to settle secondary islands early. |
| 1503 | Large; Abundant. | Latium has several patron-compatible fertility spreads, including Minerva and Neptune options. The Atlas also covers both Celtic and Roman starts in Albion. Power Up Gaming recommends it for an Atoll layout, but its summary does not specify every setting. |
| 1701 | Large; Abundant. | Particularly appealing for a Celtic Albion start with a broad resource mix. The Atlas cautions that Albion’s other islands are less compelling for Roman-focused play; Latium also supports a Minerva start with a Ceres secondary. |
| 1990 | Large; Abundant. Power Up Gaming recommends Corners and turning rivals off for its recommendation. | Potentially strong fertility in Latium, but the Atlas says its first island is across the map and requires Starter Island and Rivals turned off for that Latium profile. In Albion, Celtic is favored; Roman is described as mediocre. |
| 999999 | Large; Abundant. | A Latium-focused choice: the Minerva starter, Ceres secondary and third island have complementary fertilities and lodes. In Albion, the Atlas rates the Roman start stronger than the Celtic one. |
| 9 | Regular; Abundant. | A smaller-map option with a strong Latium Minerva starter and Ceres secondary. In Albion, islands are limited, so settling quickly matters; three NPCs may also leave less room to secure a large starting island. |
| 9760 | Large; Island Chain. The cited guide summary does not list all other options. | Latium has a Ceres-resource starter and nearby islands with complementary goods. The guide warns of pirate ships near shore. In Albion, it favors the Roman path and advises against choosing Celtic as a starter. |
9670: a versatile two-region candidate
The Anno Companion Seed Atlas credits Taka with this seed. In Latium, its described Minerva starter has Lavender, Flax and Murex; a Ceres secondary adds Olives, Resin and Grapes; and a large third island offers Sandarac, minerals and Marble. In Albion, the Celtic starter is noted for Dye Plants, Copper and Tin, while a Roman campaign benefits from early expansion. BLAST separately recommends 9670 and reports the Island Chain, Large and Abundant profile; consult its seed 9670 guide for the settings it lists.
1503: several Latium patron choices
The Seed Atlas describes a Latium Minerva starter with Flax and Murex alongside Oysters and Sturgeon, as well as a Neptune starter with Mackerel, Murex, Oysters and Sturgeon. It also discusses both Celtic and Roman Albion starts. Power Up Gaming calls 1503 a good option for an Atoll map and advises looking for fertile islands and mineral resources; its recommendation does not enumerate a complete settings profile, so verify it in the game.
Rank #2
- BUILD TRADE EXPAND — Design thriving Roman cities, run production chains, and balance citizen needs with the relentless demands of the emperor.
- TWO PROVINCES TO GOVERN — Develop Latium’s Roman heartland and brave Albion’s Celtic wetlands, each offering distinct geography, culture, and challenges.
- DISCOVERY TREE PROGRESSION — Unlock new technologies to boost production efficiency, scale settlements, and deepen strategic options as your authority grows.
- DIPLOMACY AND WARFARE — Build alliances, navigate political intrigue, and command land battles and naval combat to protect your provinces and trade.
- CHOICES SHAPE YOUR RULE — Choose whether to honor Celtic culture or enforce Roman traditions, and select island deities for powerful gameplay bonuses.
1701: a resource-rich Celtic Albion opening
For Celtic Albion, the Atlas describes a starter with Barley, Beaver, Pony, Copper, Tin and Granite, followed by an island with Dye Plants and Saltwort. Its warning is relevant if you prefer Roman Albion: the other islands are less inspiring for that route. For Latium, the Atlas notes a useful Minerva start, a Ceres secondary and a third island suited to later production.
1990: attractive, but watch the distance
In the Atlas’s current section, the Latium profile requires both Starter Island and Rivals turned off because the first island is across the map. Once reached, it has strong fertility coverage. The Albion profile favors Celtic play and needs additional islands for some production; its Roman start is rated mediocre. Power Up Gaming recommends the Corners layout with Rivals off and also cautions that island placement can delay access to the first island.

999999: a Latium-first choice
The Atlas recommends 999999 for Latium, where the Minerva starter, Ceres secondary and third island have complementary fertilities and lodes. Its Albion trade-off is clear: Roman is the stronger described start, while Celtic is mediocre.
9: smaller map, quicker competition
The Atlas describes a strong Latium Minerva starter and Ceres secondary on a Regular, Abundant map. In Albion, the island count is limited, so this is better approached as a campaign where you are ready to settle promptly. With three NPCs, you may not get the large starting island you want.
Rank #4
9760: nearby resources, with pirate risk
Power Up Gaming describes a Latium starter with Ceres resources and nearby smaller islands holding Lavender, grapes, flax, oyster, sturgeon and iron. It warns that pirate ships may be near the shores. For Albion, it favors Roman play for access to Tier 2 production and advises against using the Celtic route as a starter. Because the guide summary does not enumerate every map option, confirm the full setup rather than treating the seed number as sufficient.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check settings and generation version before starting
The Seed Finder lists Archipelago, Atoll, Corners, Island Chains and Rift templates, and says size, DLC and other options can affect the result. Its README describes reverse-engineering the generator from savegames and game data files; the project reports checking its reconstruction against 90 savegames and 11,844 individual checks with no mismatches. That is the project’s own validation claim, not an official Ubisoft statement or independent study.
The Seed Atlas has historical generation sections explicitly marked obsolete, and the Seed Finder says results can be sensitive to changes in the generation chain. Check that a seed’s profile corresponds to your current game version, then preview the generated map before investing in a campaign.
