7 Days to Die left Early Access with its Version 1.0 release on July 25, 2024. The Fun Pimps described the Early Access period as “nearly twelve years,” so the title’s “10 years” is an understatement, not the developer’s stated duration. The Fun Pimps’ launch announcement named Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows as launch platforms.
When did 7 Days to Die leave Early Access?
The Fun Pimps announced on April 20, 2024, that 7 Days to Die was leaving Early Access, referring to the planned release as “Alpha 22 (Now 1.0).” The developer’s July 24 launch announcement then said Version 1.0 would be available the next day, July 25, 2024. That announcement described the game as reaching release after “nearly twelve years of early access.” Official launch announcement · April announcement
The “nearly twelve years” figure is the publisher’s own characterization, rather than an independently calculated exact duration. It is the clearest answer to whether the game took ten years: it took longer than ten, according to The Fun Pimps.
What platforms received Version 1.0?
The July 2024 launch announcement listed Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. The developer’s earlier May schedule had described a Steam release in June followed by PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in July; that was a preliminary timetable. The final announcement set July 25 as the Version 1.0 date and included all four platform names.

What changed with the 1.0 release?
The Fun Pimps presented 1.0 as a release milestone that brought new content and features alongside polish, quality-of-life changes, optimizations, and gameplay systems. In a February 2024 developer diary, it identified planned features including a new armor system, character customization, zombie variants, updated vehicles and animals, new points of interest, changes to random-world generation, and performance work. Those were the developer’s announced plans; the diary alone does not independently verify the final implementation of each item. February 2024 developer diary
What did the 2024 roadmap say?
The same diary included post-1.0 roadmap items and headings such as a weather and biome overhaul, bandits, a UI and main-menu overhaul, story mode, and Steam Workshop support. These are historical plans announced in 2024, not confirmation that each feature was subsequently delivered. The available official material cited here does not establish their completion status or the current roadmap as of October 2026.
