The best Android game-streaming app depends on where your games already live. GeForce NOW is a strong choice for supported PC games you own; Xbox Cloud Gaming is better if you want an included subscription catalog. If you own a gaming PC or console, Moonlight, Steam Link, and PS Remote Play stream from your own hardware instead.
That distinction matters: cloud services run games on company servers, while remote-play apps send video from a PC or console you provide. Below are eight options, what each one actually gives you, and how to choose without paying for a service that does not support your games.

Cloud gaming runs the game on a provider’s remote computer and sends the video to your phone. It avoids buying a gaming PC or console and saves local storage, but it needs a stable, low-latency connection. Catalogs can change, and plans may impose queues, session limits, or quality restrictions.

Remote play runs the game on your own PC or console. It gives you access to your existing library without relying on a cloud catalog, but the host must be available and configured. Away from home, the host’s upload connection matters; at home, network quality still matters.
GeForce NOW and Boosteroid generally connect you to supported games you own. Xbox Cloud Gaming, Luna, and Blacknut primarily offer subscription libraries. Moonlight, Steam Link, and PS Remote Play do not provide a game catalog: they stream from your PC or PlayStation.
1. NVIDIA GeForce NOW: best for supported PC games you own
Type: Cloud gaming. Best for: People with a PC-game library but no suitable gaming PC.

GeForce NOW runs supported PC games on NVIDIA’s servers and connects to compatible storefront accounts. In most cases, you need to own the game separately. Owning a title is not enough by itself: the exact game, store version, region, and publisher permissions must be supported. Check NVIDIA’s requirements and the current game catalog before paying.
Paid tiers may offer better hardware, higher streaming quality, shorter queues, or longer sessions, but the features and restrictions depend on the current plan. Free or lower-cost access can include limits. NVIDIA provides an Android app and recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi for better play; its Android FAQ says the virtual gamepad is not its recommendation for extended gameplay.
Choose it if the games you want are supported and you are comfortable buying them through their PC stores. Skip it if you expect one subscription to include every game or assume your entire library will work.
2. Xbox Cloud Gaming: best for an included catalog
Type: Cloud gaming, with a separate console Remote Play option. Best for: Players who want to choose from an included library rather than link individual PC-game purchases.

Cloud gaming is available through eligible Game Pass plans, and only titles enabled for cloud play can be streamed. The catalog changes; a game being in Game Pass does not automatically mean it is cloud-enabled. Xbox’s plan page and mobile information are the places to confirm current plan, device, and regional details.
You do not need an Xbox console for cloud play. Xbox also supports Remote Play from a console you own, which is a different use: the game runs on your Xbox, not Microsoft’s cloud servers. Android requirements and the available play route can change, so check the current official guidance for your country and device.
Choose it if the current cloud catalog suits you and you value included games and Xbox account features. Skip it if you only want one specific title that is not cloud-enabled or the subscription would go mostly unused.
3. Amazon Luna: best for Prime members and casual play
Type: Cloud gaming. Best for: Existing Prime members who want to see whether Luna’s current selection fits them.
Luna offers game access through plans and channels, and Prime membership may include selected Luna content. Prime should not be treated as a pass to the entire Luna catalog: available games and terms depend on the country and current offer. Check Amazon’s Luna page for the current catalog and plan details before subscribing.
Luna does not require a gaming PC or console for cloud play. Its appeal is a relatively simple cloud-first option within Amazon’s ecosystem, but its catalog may not match the breadth or specific PC storefront support a player wants.
Choose it if you already use Prime and the included or paid Luna selection has the games you want. Skip it if you assume Prime unlocks every Luna title or are looking for a particular game without checking availability.

4. Moonlight: best for flexible streaming from a gaming PC
Type: PC streaming client. Best for: PC owners who want control over streaming quality and do not need a cloud subscription.
Moonlight streams games, applications, or a desktop from a PC you own; it does not supply games or remote gaming hardware. The official Moonlight site describes supported platforms, and its setup guide explains configuring Sunshine as a host, including for systems with different GPU brands.
Start on your home network, where the PC and phone can reach each other, and confirm that the stream works before setting up access from outside. Remote use requires a suitable host connection and secure configuration. Avoid casually exposing services to the public internet; follow the project’s security guidance and use a secure remote-access method.
Choose it if you have a gaming PC and are willing to configure a host for a flexible, potentially excellent local stream. Skip it if you want a ready-made cloud catalog or do not want to maintain a host PC.
5. Steam Link: easiest for a Steam library
Type: PC streaming client. Best for: Steam users who want a straightforward way to play games installed on their computer.

Install the Android app, keep Steam running on the host, and pair the devices. Initial pairing is simplest on the same home network. The official Steam Link page explains the service; the Android listing provides current device information.
A wired host PC and strong Wi-Fi for the phone can help reduce interruptions. Game launch behavior and controller support vary by title, and playing over the internet may take additional setup.

Choose it if your games are already on Steam and you want an official, no-separate-streaming-subscription route. Skip it if you do not have a PC available to run the games.
6. PS Remote Play: best for PS4 and PS5 owners
Type: Console remote play. Best for: People who want to use their PlayStation library away from the TV.
PS Remote Play streams from your PS4 or PS5; it is not a way to play PlayStation games without the console. Enable Remote Play on the console, make sure its network and power settings allow the connection you need, then install the Android app and sign in with the same PlayStation Network account. Sony’s official setup page lists current requirements; check the Android listing for device details.
At home, a strong network between console and phone is important. Away from home, the console’s upload connection and its availability become especially important. Pair a compatible controller and test on your home network before relying on a trip connection.
Choose it if you own a PS4 or PS5 and want remote access to games on it. Skip it if you need a cloud service that works without a PlayStation.

Type: Cloud gaming. Best for: Players whose particular supported PC game is not available on their first-choice service.
Boosteroid runs games on remote hardware. It is not an unrestricted cloud version of every Steam game: access depends on the supported title, storefront, account, region, and current publisher permissions. Consult the official service page and confirm the exact game and version before subscribing.

Like other cloud options, the experience depends on connection quality and distance to available infrastructure. A service can be a good catalog fit but a poor practical choice if its servers are too far away for responsive play.
Choose it if it supports the exact game you want and its service works well from your location. Skip it if you have not checked the title, store version, and region or expect it to cover every PC game.
8. Blacknut: best for a family-oriented subscription library
Type: Cloud gaming. Best for: Households seeking a curated subscription catalog, rather than access to a personal Steam library.

Blacknut’s model centers on games included with a subscription. It does not require a gaming PC or console for cloud play, but its catalog may not include the newest releases or the particular high-end PC games an enthusiast wants. Check the official Blacknut site for regional plans and devices, and confirm that the Android app is currently available for your device through its Google Play search listing.
Choose it if the current library, household setup, and supported devices fit your family. Skip it if you want to stream a game you already own on Steam or need a specific new release.
Which app should you choose?
- You own PC games but lack a gaming PC: Start with GeForce NOW, then check Boosteroid if a specific title is missing. Confirm the exact store version and country support first.
- You want games included with a subscription: Compare the current Xbox Cloud Gaming, Luna, or Blacknut catalog against the games you will actually play.
- You own a gaming PC: Use Moonlight for flexibility and configuration options, or Steam Link for a simpler Steam-focused setup.
- You own an Xbox: Compare Xbox Cloud Gaming (server-run games on an eligible plan) with Xbox Remote Play (games running on your console).
- You own a PS4 or PS5: PS Remote Play is the direct option for streaming from it.
- You want to avoid another recurring fee: Remote-play apps can avoid a cloud-gaming subscription, but you still need the host hardware, games, and network.
- You are choosing for a household: Consider Blacknut or another subscription library only after checking its current games, regional terms, and user/device support.
What you need for a good Android streaming setup
Connection: stability matters as much as speed
A fast download result alone does not guarantee responsive play. Latency to the cloud server, jitter, packet loss, Wi-Fi congestion, and—in remote play away from home—the host’s upload connection all affect the stream. Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi 6 where possible, connect the home PC or console to Ethernet if practical, and test at the time and location you normally play. Public Wi-Fi and mobile data can work, but congestion, changing signal, and data caps make them less predictable.
For Moonlight, Steam Link, and console Remote Play, first test on the home network. For a cloud service, server distance matters: a nearby provider region is often more important than a headline bitrate. If a stream stutters or controls lag, try lowering resolution or bitrate, moving to a less congested Wi-Fi band, pausing household uploads, and testing another network before buying new equipment.

A controller is strongly recommended for most PC and console games. Xbox Wireless Controllers, PlayStation DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers, Bluetooth Android controllers, and USB-C telescopic controllers may work, but compatibility varies by phone, app, and game. Bluetooth can add latency; a USB-C controller may be more reliable, though it can block charging or fit poorly with a thick case. Check the device and controller specifications before buying.
On-screen controls can work for supported games, but they are a poor fit for many titles and long sessions. Mouse-and-keyboard support is inconsistent on Android. A controller may pair with Android yet still fail to map correctly in a particular game. Streaming also uses battery and can warm a phone during long sessions, so consider charging access, case clearance, and comfort.

- “I own the game, but it will not launch.” Check that the title is supported, you linked the correct storefront, and you own the supported version. Publisher permissions, launchers, and regional catalogs can create exceptions.
- The image is clear but controls feel delayed. Try 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Ethernet for the host, a wired USB-C controller, a lower bitrate, and fewer background uploads. Display processing, Bluetooth, server distance, and packet loss can all contribute.
- The stream drops repeatedly. Check Wi-Fi stability, mobile-data limits, VPN settings, host sleep behavior, console rest-mode settings, firewall configuration, and—when streaming from home over the internet—the host’s upload connection.
- The app is missing from Google Play. Availability can depend on country, device compatibility, or a provider’s current distribution route. Use the official provider site or Play Store listing; random APK mirrors are not a safe routine workaround.
- Touch controls are unusable. Use a compatible controller, phone clip or stand, or tablet setup. If you do not want external controls, touch-first Android games may be a better fit.
