A report says Akio Ōtsuka, the Japanese voice actor associated with Solid Snake, wants Hideo Kojima to make one more Metal Gear game for fans. That is a reported personal wish—not an announcement that Kojima or Konami is developing a new entry. The report’s original-language wording and interview context have not been verified.
What was reportedly said—and what it does not confirm
A Reddit post dated October 4, 2026, attributes the appeal to Ōtsuka and supplies an English rendering of it. Because the post is the only located report and does not establish the originating interview or recording, that English wording should not be treated as a verified verbatim quote. The post is evidence of a reported appeal, not confirmation of a game in development.

The distinction matters: a voice actor expressing a hope for another game does not establish that Kojima has agreed, that Konami has approved a project, or that development has begun. No new-game announcement is supported by this report.
Which Solid Snake voice actor is meant?
Here, “original” refers to the Japanese-language performance by Akio Ōtsuka, not the English-language performance by David Hayter. Hayter voiced Snake from Metal Gear Solid through Metal Gear Solid 4, according to the description of a 2026 Fall Damage interview.

The two actors are associated with different language versions of the character. Hayter’s separate comments about a possible future game are his own perspective; they do not verify Ōtsuka’s reported appeal or signal a project.
Could Metal Gear continue without Hideo Kojima?
Hayter has said a great Metal Gear could be made without Kojima, while also arguing that Kojima’s particular creative sensibility cannot be replicated. Those are Hayter’s opinions, not evidence that a new game is planned. GamesRadar+’s 2025 coverage also reported comments from producer Noriaki Okamura about staff departures and lessons learned during development of Delta; those comments provide production context, not an announcement of another entry.

No. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is an existing remake, covered in 2025 as a game featuring the series’ voice cast, including Hayter. It is not identified as the game Ōtsuka reportedly wants Kojima to make. Game Informer’s coverage concerns Delta, not an additional new entry.
