That makes it evidence of an alternate design, not proof that this was Marvel’s original finalized plan for Doctor Doom’s movie costume.
What the Lord Doom Funko Pop shows
GamesRadar reports that the “Lord Doom” figure has gold trimmings, regalia and a slightly modified mask. The report places it in Funko’s concept series, which it describes as spotlighting concept art and scrapped designs that were not used. Read that as an indication the figure represents an alternate or unused look—not as confirmation that the film’s costume once matched it exactly.
The distinction matters: the report does not show the underlying concept art, identify who designed the look or provide a production timeline. It therefore cannot establish whether this was an early proposal, how far it progressed, or whether it was ever the intended final costume. The “original plan” framing is suggestive, but the design’s specific history remains unconfirmed.
What Disney has confirmed about Doctor Doom in the film
Disney’s official Avengers: Doomsday page identifies Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom and provides official film imagery. Disney lists the theatrical release date as December 18, 2026. That official material is the appropriate reference for the film and its character; it does not confirm the history behind the Lord Doom collectible.

How the reported design differs from another Doom collectible
A separate Hot Toys sixth-scale Doctor Doom figure is described by Sideshow as based on the character’s Avengers: Doomsday appearance. Its product page describes a dark green hooded cloak and layered armored suit, and gives the figure’s height as approximately 31 cm. Sideshow labels the pictured item a prototype, so the final production figure may differ.
This is a different kind of collectible from the reported Lord Doom Funko: the latter is presented as a concept-series alternate design, while the Hot Toys figure is described as based on Doom’s movie appearance. Sideshow’s September 9, 2026 article says the Doom’s Throne sixth-scale accessory is sold separately. Neither item, on its own, verifies the development history of the gold-trimmed design.
