Hideo Kojima says he has already filmed cameos in “a big live-action movie” and “a major anime title,” but neither production has been identified. In coverage published October 6, 2026, Kojima did not disclose the film’s country or name either project, so claims tying the movie to a specific franchise remain speculation.
What Kojima has confirmed
During the returning KOJI10 radio show, Kojima said he had filmed “a few other things,” including appearances in a big live-action movie and a major anime title. The reports do not name either production, a character, or a release date. NME reports that Kojima stayed silent when asked whether the movie was Japanese or international.
GamesRadar+ also mentions an unnamed game appearance, but does not identify it as either of the screen projects. The available coverage gives no confirmed schedule for any of these unnamed appearances.
Is the live-action movie Godzilla Minus Zero?
That is a fan theory, not confirmed news. NME reports that fans have speculated about Godzilla Minus Zero, partly because its director, Takashi Yamazaki, is Kojima’s friend. Kojima has not identified the movie, and the report says he did not reveal whether it is domestic or international. There is no confirmation that the cameo is connected to Godzilla Minus Zero.

How Kojima’s earlier appearances fit in
The KOJI10 discussion also touched on two previous appearances: Kojima played Commissioner Watanuki in the Japanese crime drama Vivant and had a voice role in the Japanese dub of Zootopia 2. They provide context for his on-screen work, but are not evidence that either title is one of the newly teased projects.
GamesRadar+ attributes this comment to Kojima during the KOJI10 discussion: “I don’t like playing myself. That happens a lot. I’d rather play a detective or something.” His preference for playing a character rather than himself does not reveal what roles he has filmed for the unnamed movie or anime.
