Yes. Bandai Namco announced the free Little Nightmares III demo on September 17, 2025. It offers a self-contained preview set in the Necropolis, playable solo or in same-platform online co-op. Progress from that original demo does not carry into the full game. A separate Free Trial announced later has different progress rules.
What is in the Little Nightmares III demo?
The demo takes Low and Alone into the Necropolis, a ruined desert city in the Spiral. Xbox Wire describes it as a ghost town buried in sand, marked by distorted statues of the Dwellers. Players solve puzzles and evade Monster Baby, the area’s major threat. Xbox Wire’s demo announcement and Bandai Namco Europe’s announcement introduced the demo as a preview of this location.

Low and Alone have different tools: Low carries a bow, while Alone uses a wrench. The tools support different interactions in the game, such as reaching high targets, cutting ropes, breaking barriers, and working machinery. Those mechanics describe the game overall; not every interaction is confirmed to appear in the brief demo. The official game page gives further details about the characters and their equipment.
Can you play the demo solo or in co-op?
You can play alone with an AI-controlled companion or team up online with a friend. The demo’s online co-op is limited to players on the same platform, so check the platform store and current game listing for details before arranging a session. The original demo announcement describes these play options.

Does demo progress carry over?
No. Progress in the original standalone Necropolis demo does not carry over to the full game. Treat it as a separate preview rather than a save you can continue after buying.
How is the later Free Trial different?
Bandai Namco Europe announced a separate Free Trial and Friend’s Pass on October 10, 2025. The Free Trial covers approximately the game’s first 30 minutes, and the publisher says progress carries over automatically if you later purchase the full game. That is different from the September demo, whose progress does not carry over.

The full game launched on October 10, 2025; Bandai Namco’s launch announcement identifies Supermassive Games as developer and Bandai Namco Entertainment America as publisher.
