There is no evidence here proving that RoShade is a virus, but there is also no independent safety check for the specific RoShade file you may have. The name alone is not enough to judge a download. Its source, version, and exact file matter—and the developer’s reassurance about antivirus alerts is not an independent malware test.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
The RoShade developer’s GitHub release page says some antivirus programs may flag RoShade as a false positive. That is the publisher’s statement, not a finding from an independent security analysis. The reviewed sources do not tie a malware analysis to a particular RoShade file, version, or hash.
A separate site, roshade.app, describes its RoShade product as a browser extension that adds visual effects to the Roblox web player. It says the extension processes effects in the browser and does not modify Roblox game files. Those are claims about the product described on that site; they do not verify the extension independently or establish that downloads from other RoShade-branded sources are the same product.
So the evidence supports neither a blanket claim that RoShade is a virus nor a blanket assurance that every download bearing the name is safe.

How Roblox’s warnings apply
Roblox Support warns that exploit downloads can be scams that deliver malware, including keyloggers or phishing programs that may steal personal information such as a Roblox password. Roblox’s warning concerns exploits generally; it does not identify RoShade as malicious. Read the guidance in Roblox Support’s “Cheating and Exploiting” article.
Roblox also explains that its own software can sometimes be incorrectly flagged by antivirus programs. That article covers Roblox software, not third-party RoShade files, so it is not a safety clearance for RoShade and should not be used as a reason to exempt a RoShade file from antivirus protection. See Roblox Support’s antivirus guidance.

Roblox’s modified-client guidance recommends using official Roblox software and describes runtime modification by external tools as a modified client. The material reviewed does not establish how every RoShade version works or how Roblox would classify each one. If a tool changes or interacts with the Roblox client, do not assume it is permitted or supported.
How to assess the particular file you have
Branding is easy to copy. Compare the specific artifact and its source rather than treating matching names, icons, or descriptions as proof of authenticity.

- Check the exact download address and publisher. Confirm where the link leads and who controls that source. A file from an unrelated mirror is not verified just because it uses the RoShade name.
- Record the version and file hash. A hash identifies a particular file, but it proves neither that the file is genuine nor that it is safe. A useful security analysis must refer to the same artifact.
- Review what the installer or extension asks to do. Pay attention to requested browser permissions, requests for account credentials, and installation steps that go beyond the product’s stated purpose.
- Look for independent analysis tied to that exact file. A generic claim, a scan of another version, or an antivirus warning without context does not settle whether your copy is malicious.
The sources reviewed do not provide a verified RoShade file hash or an independent test of an installer. If you cannot establish where your copy came from or find analysis of that exact file, the available evidence is insufficient to call it safe.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If antivirus flags a RoShade download
Do not dismiss the alert as a false positive solely because the RoShade developer says some detections may be false positives. Avoid running the file or adding it to antivirus exclusions while you assess it. If you already installed it and are unsure of its source, remove it and run a scan using your security software. If you entered your Roblox password into an unexpected prompt, change it through Roblox’s official site and secure the account.
