The best way to sell video games depends on what you have and what matters most: a broad buyer pool, less work, local pickup, or a collector audience. Sort your games and hardware first, compare likely proceeds after fees and shipping, then choose a channel that fits each item. The eight options below are channel types to consider—not a verified ranking of specific services.
1. Inventory and sort your games
Before choosing where to sell, make a simple inventory. Record each item’s platform, exact title, edition, condition, completeness, and included accessories. Separate consoles from games, and distinguish loose cartridges or discs from complete-in-box copies and collectible editions.
- Note whether the original case, box, manuals, and other inserts are included.
- Describe visible wear, damage, or missing parts.
- For valuable retro items, check authenticity and document the item’s working condition. Only claim that something was tested if you actually tested it.

2. Check realistic prices and calculate your net
An asking price is not the amount you take home. Compare current offers and, where available, completed-sale evidence across more than one channel. Then subtract fees, shipping, packaging, and any optional services from the expected sale amount. There is no universal valuation table for every game, edition, and condition.

These options cover the main ways to reach buyers. The fit depends on your item, location, tolerance for listing and shipping work, and whether you want cash or are open to store credit. Verify a named service’s current availability, listing rules, and fees before committing.
1. Broad online marketplaces
Marketplaces such as eBay can expose a listing to buyers beyond your local area. They can be worth considering for common games as well as less common editions, but you handle listing details, buyer communication, fees, packing, and shipping. Calculate proceeds using the current fee schedule rather than the item price alone.

Amazon permits listings for game consoles, console games, and accessories in new, used, and collectible condition. Its referral fee depends on the item category, and its selling plan adds either a per-item or monthly cost. Check both the category assignment and the plan’s fit for your situation before listing.
3. Gaming-focused retailers
A retailer specializing in games may suit sellers who value a gaming-oriented buying audience or a simpler transaction. Availability, accepted items, and payout terms vary by retailer; do not assume a store accepts every title or pays more than a marketplace.

4. Retailer trade-in programs
Trade-in programs can reduce the work of finding an individual buyer, but accepted products, store participation, condition standards, and offers are limited. GameStop, for example, accepts selected games, consoles, controllers, and other devices at selected U.S. and Guam locations, with cash or trade credit where available. 5. Local online-sale channels
Local listings can avoid shipping and may allow an in-person handoff. They also require coordinating with a nearby buyer, and the pool of interested people depends on your area. Use a safe, practical handoff plan and agree on payment before meeting.

Local shops and gaming communities can be another route for finding interested buyers without shipping each item. Policies and demand are specific to the business or group, so ask about accepted items, offers, and any conditions before making the trip.
7. Retro-game specialists
Specialist retro retailers and marketplaces may attract collectors looking for particular systems, editions, or older games. That audience can be useful for unusual inventory, but each specialist has its own buying or listing rules. Verify authenticity and describe completeness and condition precisely.
8. Collector-focused communities and venues
Collector communities can help niche items reach people who recognize their significance. Treat each venue as a separate transaction: check its current rules, protections, fees, and shipping or handoff expectations. A collector audience is not a guarantee of a higher price or faster sale.
