Razer describes the choice as “competitive wired gameplay” versus “wireless freedom.” Decide first whether you are comfortable playing with a cable. If not, the Pro is the wireless option; if so, compare the Tournament Edition’s controls with the Pro’s removable and swappable parts to see which physical setup you would actually use.
What is different about the controls and hardware?
Wolverine V4 Pro: removable and swappable parts
The Pro has removable magnetic back buttons, interchangeable thumbstick caps, and a removable faceplate. These give you options to change the controller’s physical configuration. Razer also lists four onboard profiles. Its product page describes the sticks as using capacitive, contactless sensors. Razer product page
Wolverine V4 Tournament Edition: wired controls
The Tournament Edition is wired and includes four mouse-click back buttons, dual-mode adjustable triggers, macro bumpers, and a 2 m cable. Razer lists four onboard profiles for this model as well. Razer product page

What do the polling-rate claims mean for Xbox?
Razer’s October 6, 2026 announcement says the Wolverine V4 line supports up to 250 Hz on Xbox Series X|S and up to 8,000 Hz polling on PC. The individual model pages also qualify their 8,000 Hz claims as PC performance. These are manufacturer claims, not independently tested results; the PC maximum should not be treated as the Xbox polling rate. Razer announcement
Razer also reports approximately 3,000 movement steps, measured using its RazerHyper Wireless dongle connected to a PC at 8,000 Hz polling. That is a Razer-reported measurement under that setup, not an independent test or a general Xbox performance figure. The product descriptions call the sticks capacitive and contactless; because Razer’s Pro FAQ uses conflicting terminology, it is more accurate not to label them Hall Effect.

What should you know about the Pro’s battery claim?
Razer’s Pro page gives two different maximum battery-life figures: up to 27 hours in a feature section and up to 40 hours in its FAQ. The page does not resolve the discrepancy, so neither figure should be treated as a settled specification. Razer product page
