To play Nintendo Switch 2 on a TV, connect the Switch 2 dock to power with the NGN-01 AC adapter, connect the dock to the TV with an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable, then seat the console in the dock with its screen facing the dock’s front. Select the matching HDMI input on the TV. If there is no picture, check power, input, orientation, and cables before testing another port, TV, or dock.
What you need for Switch 2 TV mode
- A Nintendo Switch 2 dock, model BEE-005.
- The Switch 2 AC adapter, model NGN-01.
- An Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.
- A TV or monitor with an HDMI input.
Nintendo’s setup uses the dock to send video to the display over HDMI; it does not document connecting the console directly to a TV over USB-C. The console screen turns off while it is docked.
How to connect Nintendo Switch 2 to a TV
- Open the cover on the back of the Switch 2 dock.
- Connect the NGN-01 AC adapter to the dock’s AC adapter port, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
- Connect an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable to the dock’s HDMI OUT port and to an HDMI input on the TV.
- Close the dock’s back cover and place the dock where the console can sit securely.
- If you plan to use the Joy-Con 2 controllers wirelessly, remove them from the console.
- Place the console in the dock with its screen facing the same direction as the dock’s front panel.
- Turn on the TV and select the HDMI input used by the dock. The console display should turn off as the TV picture appears.
Fix a blank screen or “No signal” message
Work through these checks in order, changing one thing at a time where possible so you can identify the cause.
Check the TV input and direct connections
- Confirm the TV is set to the HDMI input connected to the dock.
- Connect the dock’s adapter directly to a wall outlet and connect HDMI directly from the dock to the TV.
- Temporarily remove HDMI splitters, sound bars, home theater receivers, and video adapters from the signal path.
- Review the TV’s HDMI and picture settings. Nintendo of America also suggests trying Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) turned off.
Reseat the console and inspect its fit
Remove the console from the dock and seat it again with the screen facing the dock’s front panel. If a protective case prevents the console from fitting correctly, remove the case and try again.

Swap the HDMI port and cable
Try a different HDMI input on the TV, then try another Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. A cable that works for another device is not necessarily the specified cable standard for Switch 2 TV mode.
Isolate the TV, dock, or console
If available, connect the dock to another TV or monitor. You can also test the console in another working Switch 2 dock. If video works with a different display or dock, that helps narrow down which part of the original setup is causing the problem. If these checks do not restore the picture, arrange service through Nintendo for the dock and/or console.

Fix “Could not connect to the TV” or an adapter warning
Nintendo of America says an adapter other than the Switch 2 NGN-01 can trigger the message. Check that you are using the Switch 2 dock (BEE-005) and its NGN-01 adapter before replacing anything.
- Turn off the TV and disconnect the dock’s cables.
- Unplug the AC adapter from both the wall outlet and the dock. Leave it disconnected for at least 30 seconds.
- Inspect the adapter and cables for damage.
- On the console, check for a system update. Then go to System Settings > System > Dock Update to check for a dock firmware update.
- Reconnect the NGN-01 adapter directly to a wall outlet and connect HDMI directly from the dock to the TV.
- Dock the console in the correct orientation and check whether the message clears.
If the message persists, test with another Switch 2 adapter if one is available. Nintendo of America’s no-video guidance says an alternative adapter and cable rated for at least 54W may be used; that is US guidance, not a universal rule for every region. Follow Nintendo’s regional power requirements and use a compatible adapter approved for your country. If the error remains after these checks, contact Nintendo about service.

Can you reuse original Nintendo Switch accessories?
Not all original Switch accessories work for Switch 2 TV mode. Nintendo states, “The Nintendo Switch dock is not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.” The original Switch AC adapter (HAC-002) can charge the Switch 2 when plugged directly into the console, but it cannot power the Switch 2 dock for TV play. The original Switch HDMI cable is also not the Ultra High Speed HDMI cable specified for Switch 2 TV mode.
If an included cable or adapter is missing or a troubleshooting test points to a failed accessory, choose a replacement that meets Switch 2’s requirements. A replacement is not automatically necessary: the supplied equipment should work when it is undamaged and connected correctly.

Arrange service for the dock and/or console if the documented checks—direct power and HDMI connections, correct TV input and console orientation, alternate HDMI cable or port, and testing with another display or working dock when available—do not restore video or clear the adapter error.
