Sign in to the Nintendo Account that should own the game before you redeem or register it: Nintendo ties the game license to the account used to claim it.
Set up the Nintendo Account you want to use
- On a computer or smart device, visit Nintendo’s Nintendo Account website and choose Sign in/Create account, then Create a Nintendo Account. Enter your date of birth and choose a sign-in method. If you already have an account, use that same account on Switch 2. Nintendo’s Getting Started with Nintendo Switch 2 guide explains the setup process.
- If the user is subject to verifiable parental consent requirements, a parent or guardian must create the account within their own account.
- Complete the console’s initial setup, connect Switch 2 to the internet, and link the intended Nintendo Account to the console user. If you use the console’s email-confirmation option, Nintendo describes an optional five-digit confirmation-code flow using a computer or smart device. That five-digit console code is different from the four-digit code sent by email.
Choose carefully before continuing: Nintendo says, “The game license will be tied to the Nintendo Account that redeems or purchases the game, so the same account will be needed to manage the virtual game card.”
Check how your bundle delivers the game
Nintendo documents two bundle fulfillment methods. Some packages include a printed code to redeem in Nintendo eShop; others provide a full game download that you register to an account through the console. Check the package and HOME menu rather than assuming every bundle uses a code. Nintendo’s Switch 2 game bundle FAQ covers both methods.
| Bundle type | Where to start | What claims the game |
|---|---|---|
| Printed download code | Nintendo eShop > Enter Code | Redeem the code while signed into the intended Nintendo Account. |
| No printed code | Bundle or game icon on HOME, or eShop settings | Select Download with the intended account to register the game and begin downloading. |
Redeem a printed Switch 2 bundle code
- Connect Switch 2 to the internet and launch Nintendo eShop.
- Select the user linked to the Nintendo Account that should own the game.
- Choose Enter Code, type the download code, review the details, and confirm redemption.
If the bundle came with a retailer card showing both a download code and a control number, enter the download code, not the control number. The account’s country must be set to a country where Nintendo eShop is available. For code errors, use Nintendo’s download-code redemption instructions and error-code guidance.

Nintendo also offers redemption through its online code redemption page. Before using it, the Nintendo Account must have opened Nintendo eShop on a Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch at least once. Sign in to the account that should own the game, enter the 16-digit code, and confirm redemption. If online redemption is unavailable, open eShop on the console with that account first, then retry online or redeem directly on the console.

Fix common bundle redemption problems
- You selected the wrong account: Stop before confirming any redemption, registration, or download. The license is tied to the account selected at claim time. Nintendo’s bundle FAQ points people who claimed on the wrong account to its transfer guidance; do not assume an ordinary transfer will be available.
- The code is rejected: Check that you entered the download code rather than the card’s control number, then consult Nintendo’s error-code guidance.
- There is no code in the package: Look for a bundle or game icon on HOME, or find Products Bundled with Console in eShop settings.
- A code expected in the bundle is missing: Contact Nintendo Support. The resolution depends on the specific purchase and case; do not assume a replacement is automatic.
