How do you unlock housing in No Rest for the Wicked?
Housing unlock requirements have changed across updates. Early Access Patch 1 moved access earlier, to after the “Sacrament” quest, while Moon Studios’ January 2026 Together update specifically says The Hovel becomes available after “A Small Mercy.” The wiki describes other houses as purchasable after progressing through the main story, but does not give a separate quest requirement for each one.

Older guides may refer to “Of Rats and Raiders,” an earlier requirement that should not be treated as the universal current unlock. Once you reach Sacrament, check the signpost outside each house to see whether it is available to buy in your version.
How do you buy a house in Sacrament?
Find a house and interact with the signpost outside it. The wiki says the sign is used to buy or sell a home; Moon Studios’ Together notes also identify the exterior signpost as the place to manage guest access. Availability and displayed price in your game are the practical checks before purchase.

How much do houses cost in No Rest for the Wicked?
The community-maintained Housing wiki lists six homes and prices from 8 to 35 silver. These are wiki-reported amounts, not an official current price table; check the signpost in game. Historical patch prices differ, so older figures should not be substituted for the amount shown in your version.

The wiki provides locations and prices, but not dependable measurements or a verified best-home ranking. Choose by the listed location and the layout you prefer when you inspect it in game; the available evidence does not establish which house has the most useful layout or storage.

How does housing work in multiplayer?
In the Together update, the owner configures house access at the signpost outside. Owners can set chest permissions individually for each guest, and guests can place housing items. Moon Studios’ notes do not establish whether guests can buy or sell the host’s home or transfer placed items, so do not assume they can.
What is the housing-item placement limit?
Together Hotfix 2 raised the placement limit from 64 housing items to 256. This is a dated patch figure, not a confirmed current limit: the official forum index lists Together Hotfix 9 on October 6, 2026, but its full notes are not available here to establish whether the limit changed. Check the current in-game behavior or the complete notes for your version.

Is No Rest for the Wicked still in Early Access?
Yes. Moon Studios announced on September 18, 2026 that “No Rest for the Wicked’s 1.0 launch is moving from October 2026 to March 2027.” The game therefore remains in Early Access as of October 7, 2026, and housing details may continue to change before 1.0.
