When did Indiana Jones and the Great Circle come to PS5?
Microsoft and Lucasfilm announced the platform plan on August 20, 2024, at gamescom Opening Night Live. Lucasfilm set December 9, 2024, for the Xbox Series X|S and PC release, including availability through Game Pass, with the PS5 version planned for spring 2025. Lucasfilm later confirmed April 17, 2025, as the PS5 release date; PlayStation Blog reiterated the date shortly before launch. What is the game about?
Developed by MachineGames in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a single-player, first-person adventure. Its story is set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Indy investigates a mystery tied to ancient sites around the world, alongside Gina Lombardi and against archaeologist Emmerich Voss. Lucasfilm’s announcement and PlayStation Blog’s PS5 launch feature describe the premise and format.

How the adventure plays
In its official gameplay overview, Xbox Wire describes a linear main story that opens into larger areas with side characters, secrets, rewards, and optional activities. Players can revisit areas after unlocking them. Indy’s whip serves several roles: it can be used in combat, to manipulate objects, swing, break objects, and climb. The camera documents discoveries and assists with puzzles, while the journal records found material and offers hints. Why did the game launch on Xbox and PC first?
Microsoft’s stated explanation was development-risk reduction. In a July 11, 2023 cross-submission to New Zealand’s Commerce Commission, Microsoft said the team initially limited the platforms to Xbox and PC because developing for fewer platforms reduced risk. It also cited the time needed to work with Disney, the licensor, and accommodate substantial feedback. What does the PS5 version offer?
PlayStation Blog’s April 2025 announcement lists PS5 features including DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, contextual lightbar feedback, SSD optimization, ray tracing, 3D audio, and a stated target of stable 60 FPS. These are PlayStation’s platform descriptions, not independent performance measurements, and should not be treated as claims about Xbox or PC.

PS5 physical edition
Bethesda lists a PS5 Standard Edition physical purchase in some regions and says the physical Xbox and PS5 Standard Editions include a game disc. Physical availability varies by region. If you want a PS5 game disc rather than a digital copy, confirm the format and availability with the seller before purchase.

Bundle availability and exact contents should be checked for the relevant region and listing.
The Order of Giants DLC
The Order of Giants is a story expansion set in Rome, released September 4, 2025. Bethesda says it is sold separately and requires the base game, so it is not a standalone way to play Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
