On Amazon.com in the U.S., most eligible items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, but the product’s own eligibility, deadline, condition rules, and available return method control. If the price drops after you buy, Amazon does not promise an automatic refund of the difference: a December 2025 report says Amazon U.S. confirmed it does not automatically adjust prices after an order.
Can I return something I bought on Prime Day or another Amazon deal day?
Usually, if the item is eligible and you meet its applicable deadline and condition requirements. Amazon’s U.S. policy says most Amazon.com items may be returned for a refund or replacement within 30 days of delivery. That is a general rule, not a guarantee for every product. Check the product detail page before buying and the order in Your Orders afterward.
Amazon lists category-specific exceptions. For example, the policy gives a seven-day window for certain accidentally purchased digital content and 15 days for certain new Apple-brand and Boost Infinite products sold new. It also describes longer windows for selected Amazon Renewed, baby, mattress, birthday, wedding, and baby-registry purchases. These examples do not mean every item in those categories has the same return terms.
Some products may be non-returnable, including perishables, customized or redeemable products, Amazon Pharmacy products, pet medications, certain digital products, automobiles, final-sale products, and items presenting certain health or safety risks. If a non-returnable item arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from what you ordered, Amazon says to contact Customer Service.

How do I start an Amazon return?
- Open Your Orders and select the item you want to return.
- Choose a return reason and review the refund or replacement choices shown for that order.
- Select an available return method and follow the instructions, including any drop-off or collection deadline.
The choices can vary by seller, item, and reason. Amazon says most returns have at least one free shipping option, but a fee may apply if you choose a non-free method, the item is heavy or bulky, or your return rate is unusually high. Potential late fees may apply if you miss the stated return-by date. Amazon also lists possible damage fees for items returned damaged, missing parts, missing tags, or showing obvious use not caused by Amazon or seller error. These are conditional fees, not charges that apply to every return.
How long does an Amazon return or refund take?
Returning the item and receiving the money are separate stages. Amazon says it may take up to 30 days to receive and process a return. After a refund is issued, your bank or payment provider may need additional time to make the funds available.

Check the product’s price history
Amazon describes its price-history feature as a way to see whether a deal is below a product’s recent price. Use that history as context, not a guarantee that a tracker covers every price change or that a past low predicts what the price will do next.

Amazon says its deals display a verified reference price and corresponding savings, and that it works to have deals priced at the lowest level in at least the preceding 30 days. It also says major deal events often feature prices among the lowest of the year. Those are descriptions of Amazon’s own deal practices, not independent measurements proving that every offer is the best available price.
